Position Type: Student Support Services/Speech and Language Pathologist Date Posted: 3/25/2024 Location: Avis Huff SSSC Date Available: August 2024 District: Kankakee School District 111 - website Position Title : Speech/Language Pathologist Department: Student Support Services Reports to: Director of Special Education Full-time 9 month position School Year SUMMARY This position is responsible for working closely with students with and without disabilities on a regular basis in an effort to assess, diagnose, treat, and help to prevent disorders related to speech, language, cognitive communication, voice, swallowing and fluency. DUTIES Administers formal diagnostic evaluations and informal assessments pertaining to communication disorders. Obtains additional diagnostic information from appropriate person(s) and available records for speech/language services. Analyzes and interprets information to make recommendations regarding the need for speech/language services. Manages the development and implementation of Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) Monitors and reports on the progress of students on therapist's class list. Schedules/plans/monitors interventions using a variety of service delivery models to meet student needs in the least restrictive environment. Provides direct instruction that enables the student to progress toward goals and objectives on the IEP. Maintains records of speech/language program and prepare periodic reports as required Maintains lesson plans/logs and attendance of each student. Collaborates/consults with classroom teachers, other school personnel and parents on implementation of students' IEPs. Completes records for third party reimbursement. Maintains appropriate behavioral management during therapy in order to create a positive learning environment that is safe for all children. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students. Attends initial CPI training and annual CPI refresher training and upholds a valid certification. Follows policies and procedures of the District. Complete duties assigned by the Director of Special Education. QUALIFICATIONS Hold an IL Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Support Personnel Endorsement in Speech-Language Pathologist Certified as per Illinois State Board of Education requirements Maintain a license by Illinois Department of Professional Regulation Must have excellent oral and written communication skills Must be able to (a) sit for extended periods of time, (b) type/enter data into computer, (c) stand, walk, bend over, reach, push/pull up to 10 lbs., and lift/carry up to 25 lbs. Communicates effectively with staff, parents and students. Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with others.
