Job Description

The Director and Head of Enterprise Architecture at NiSource is a senior leader in the IT department and is accountable for defining, designing and delivering the enterprise architecture vision, strategy, and roadmap for the organization. This includes collaboration with IT leaders, business leaders, and IT service providers to align the enterprise architecture strategies with business strategies, and ensure the integration, interoperability, and scalability of IT systems, applications, infrastructure, security, and cloud solutions.Before applying, please ensure you can meet the following requirements:1 - Are you able to relocate to Columbus, OH, or the surrounding area?2 - Do you have at least 8-10 years of experience in enterprise-wide domain architecture, such as IT systems architecturesystems design and implementation of large-scale systems, preferably across multiple hardware and software platforms?3 - Do you have 8-10 years of experience leading and managing an enterprise architecture team?Key Outcomes for Success:• Proactive plans for future architecture needs, innovative solutions, and projects, based on anticipated NiSource business needs and IT industry future directions• Defined future state solutionapplications, informationdata, technicalinfrastructure architectures, and is some instances the businessprocess architecture for major areas of development• Defined, reusable standards and processes to ensure compliance to the technical standards and procedures by service providers and NiSource• A strategic enterprise architecture that enables efficient and effective application and infrastructure deployment• A high-performing organization that fosters a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learningResponsibilities:• Strategic Planning and Execution • Lead the development and execution of enterprise and architecture domain-specific strategies, reusable standards, and guidelines • Define the Enterprise Architecture target state, blueprints, and roadmaps• Architectural Leadership • Participate directly in high-visibility, high-impact business transformation programs • Provide architectural leadership in resolving inter-program and inter-project issues• Technology Foresight and Innovation • Engage with Industry Peers, Partners, and Vendors to stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends • Evaluate the potential impact of new technologies on the organization • Recommend innovative solutions to improve efficiency and competitiveness• Strategic Decision-Making and Influence • Recommend proactive courses of action to maintain cost-effectiveness andcompetitiveness • Use influence and negotiation skills to implement recommended actions effectively• Talent Development and Mentorship • Coach, mentor, and develop the enterprise architecture staff • Foster a culture of excellence, grit, innovation, and continuous learning• Architectural Consulting and Guidance • Provide architectural consulting and guidance for all technology projects• Governance and Compliance • Design and direct the governance activities associated with ensuring EA compliance• Rapid Prototyping and Validation • Enable rapid prototyping and proof-of-concept work to validate proposed architectures• Subject Matter Expertise • Sought out as a systems architecture expertMinimum Requirements:• Bachelor's degree• 12+ years' total experience in enterprise-wide domain architecture, such as IT systems architecture systems design and implementation of large-scale systems, preferably across multiple hardware and software platforms• 9+ years' experience in Enterprise Architecture management role, and managing and developing a high performing teamPreferred Qualifications• Graduate degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering, or related discipline• Expert knowledge of IT systems, applications, infrastructure, security and cloud technologies, and their integration, interoperability, and scalability• Excellent communication, leadership, strategic thinking, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills• Ability to evangelize and influence peers, senior leaders, and others at any organizational level• Experience in creating and defining new architectural models and explaining complex problems or situations in easy-to-understand language• Familiarity with architecture frameworks and standards, such as TOGAF• Familiarity with the standards and best practices bodies i.e. The Open Group, IEEE, OMG, ITIL, CoBIT, CMMiSix SigmaLEAN• Familiarity with the Energy Industry, i.e. FERC and PUCDisclaimer: The preceding description is not designed to be a complete list of all duties and responsibilities required of the positionLocation: The Director and Head of Enterprise Architecture is a full-time permanent position located in Columbus, Ohio.
