Job Title : Design Engineer (BIW Structures)Location: Columbus, OHDuration : Full time (Onsite)Responsibilities:Analyze technical drawings, 3D models, and product specifications to evaluate design requirements and feasibility. Utilize CAD software like SolidWorksCREO to create detailed 3D models, drawings, and perform calculations for developing component designs. Conceptualize innovative solutions for truck cab interiors and exteriors as part of an exciting new platform development project.Facilitate the new product introduction (NPI) process, identifying market needs and translating them into new product designs. Ensure feasibility of integrating new technologies into cab designs while meeting cost targets for tooling and parts. Collaborate cross-functionally with industrial and manufacturing engineering teams during NPI to deliver high-quality products.Carry out preliminary and advanced development work, including creating master layouts, parts, assemblies, and drawings. Manage bills of materials and drawing revisions adhering to change management protocols. Generate and release new bills of materials for sales and designs.Act as a liaison between engineering and other departments, interfacing with suppliers, dealers, and customers as needed. Conduct design studies, tolerance stack-ups, layouts, calculations, weight estimates, and provide supporting documentation. Comfortable handling complex problem-solving and rapidly changing priorities. Perform other duties as assigned.SkillsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field desired. Equivalent education and experience required. Experience in product development in automotiveheavy truck body interior components required 3+ years of experience working with automotivetruck or heavy equipment design required, Class 78 truck chassis highly desired. 3-D CAD proficiency required; SolidWorks, CREO and Windchill experience desired. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, required; experience using ERP and CRM programs desired. Experience with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems on mobile and on-highway heavy equipment.
