A leading real estate company is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Commercial Property Accountant to join the finance team. The successful candidate will manage all accounting aspects for commercial properties, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial planning. This role is crucial in supporting the financial operations of our commercial real estate portfolio, providing insightful analysis and reporting to aid in decision-making processes.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management and ReportingMaintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for all commercial properties.Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.Ensure timely and accurate recording of all transactions.Budgeting and ForecastingAssist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.Monitor and report on budget variances, providing analysis and recommendations.Collaborate with property managers to gather and verify budget data.Tenant and Lease AdministrationManage tenant billing and collections, ensuring timely receipt of payments.Oversee lease accounting, including rent roll management and CAM reconciliations.Handle tenant inquiries and resolve any billing pliance and AuditEnsure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations.Prepare for and assist with internal and external audits.Maintain documentation for audit trails and regulatory compliance.Accounts Payable and ReceivableProcess accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and timely.Reconcile bank statements and manage cash flow.Monitor and manage vendor relationships and payments.Tax and InsuranceAssist in the preparation and filing of property tax returns.Manage insurance renewals and ensure appropriate coverage for properties.Coordinate with tax advisors on property-related tax matters.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, with a focus on commercial real estate.Strong understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar).Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
