Function: Finance & Accounting Job Summary: Job Description Summary The Manager, Federal Tax Compliance will be responsible for all aspects of CF's U.S. federal income tax return filings and federal audits by the Internal Revenue Service. This role will be involved in tax law analysis and planning. This role will work across the tax function to lead the Company's U.S. federal tax compliance efforts. Job Description: Job Responsibilities: Responsible for management and supervision of all aspects of quarterly and annual U.S. federal tax compliance. Responsible for the company's response to all federal tax examinations including management of audits, responding to information document requests, and preparation of federal protests. Prepares complex book tax difference calculations for year-end income tax provision and annual income tax return. Supports M&A through responsibility for coordination of post-merger integration activities. Works with tax accounting team to align tax financial reporting with the compliance process. Participates in organization wide system initiatives to ensure tax requirements are considered. Monitors and analyzes tax regulatory and compliance developments and tax law changes and communicates its impact to Tax Department. Supports the Company's position during financial audits. Assists Tax Director(s) with analysis of risks and sustainability of various tax positions taken in the tax filings and financial statements. Oversees implementation and maintenance of tax compliance software. Participates in the Company's pursuit of incentives related to potential expansions of existing facilities and the development of new facilities. Provides support for state and foreign income tax audits and examinations. Writes tax technical memoranda and performs ad-hoc research as needed. Internal Controls: Establishes and implements processes and procedures to meet departmental internal controls requirements.  Ensures that established processes/procedures are followed as designed.  Works with internal controls department to identify deficiencies in existing processes/procedures, the need for new ones, and the extent to which such processes/procedures are being followed.  Develops and implements corrective actions with regard to department internal controls as necessary. Successful incumbents will have: Bachelor's degree in accounting required, with preference for a graduate tax degree (MST, MBA or LLM) and/or JD. Professional certification (e.g., Certified Public Accountant and/or IPT-CMI designation) is desirable. At least seven years of U.S. federal tax experience with a large multinational corporate organization or public accounting firm. At least two years of experience in a supervisory role.  Possession of well-developed tax technical expertise in income taxes and the ability to effectively address and manage complex matters involving past, present and future considerations and consequences. Strong critical and analytical thinking skills and the ability to identify issues and develop and implement practical solutions. Experience and familiarity with ERP systems. Strong knowledge of Thomson Reuters OneSource Income Tax is preferred.  Strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal and negotiation skills and the ability to act as an advocate for the Company, when necessary, and to interact effectively with a wide variety of people within and outside CF. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment. Position Scope/Contribution: This role routinely interacts with internal and external constituents and represents CF's Tax Department.  Occasionally, travel to various Company facilities and professional education/training programs may be required.  Management of the tax staff requires coordination of major responsibilities of the group. Time constraints can be demanding and require significant planning, organizing, directing of people, events, and resources.
