Seneca Holdings has an immediate opening for a qualified Senior Accountant, reporting to the Accounting Manager in our Williamsville, NY office. This role will support a hybrid work schedule. Duties and Responsibilities: -Apply advanced accounting skills to perform and/or oversee routine and non-routine tasks involving the processing and reconciliation of receivables, billing, payroll, accounts payable, fixed assets, general ledger, preparing financial statements, and supporting compliance audits in growing multicompany environment. -Perform month-end closing activities, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, analyzing financial data, and recognizing revenue to ensure accuracy and completeness. -Analyzing project profitability -Reconcile and maintain cost pools -Review daily accounts payable voucher to ensure accuracy and correct coding. -Review and posting of biweekly payrolls -Support external auditors, providing necessary documentation and explanations. -Collaborate with other departments including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Projects Controls -Centralize, maintain & register numerous companies for state payroll & sales tax -Research payroll reporting requirements by state -Research multi-state sales tax requirements -Prepare license returns for state jurisdictions Minimum Qualifications: -Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field -Six (6) years of experience in corporate or public accounting -Strong experience in preparation of financial statements -Significant experience with project-based ERP and payroll systems -Advanced knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting required; knowledge of government contract accounting principles and FAR strongly preferred -Analytical and conceptual thinking - using logic and reason, creative and strategic -Proficient in computers and standard office applications (specifically in Microsoft Excel) -Demonstrated capacity for attention to detail and accuracy of work product -Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality -Strong verbal and written communication skills -Respectful team player Desired Skills: -Eight (8) years or more of accounting experiences; four (4) years governmental accounting -ERP and system experience (company uses Deltek Costpoint & Cognos Report Writing for financial reporting & ADP Workforce Now for payroll processing) -CPA certification a plus Seneca Holdings considers many factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to: the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
