Job Description

In general, the Controls Specialist will provide skilled technical and engineering support to repair, maintenance, programming and refurbishment of Mill electrical system and automation projects. The position will assist in the management of projects, coordination of work, and execution of work related to electrical maintenance, electrical engineering, and automation. The major emphasis is on analyzing and solving complex technical problems and identifying opportunities to continually improve the uptime, reliability, and performance of equipment. What you will do: Coordinate small to medium scope projects for electrical and automation improvements. Assist maintenance planning and reliability maintenance with CMMS / Ivara system. Investigate, design, and procure equipment and spare parts for root cause solutions to problematic equipment issues. Solve problems, seek, and identify opportunities, and implement solutions with limited input from others. Respond to call out and trouble / repair calls. Liaise with equipment suppliers to repair and maintain to OEM specifications and modify/retrofit equipment and systems for efficiency improvements with the manufacturing process. Repair, replace, or modify electronic and electrical process control equipment. Implement design changes on programmable controller and microprocessor based process control equipment. Read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings. Work safely and follow safety rules. Act to correct or report unsafe working conditions and behaviors. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices. Attend and complete Company required training. Other duties as assigned What you will need: Eligible to legally work in the United States Associates degree from a technical school in a related field or 5 years' experience in electrical/technical support work in an industrial environment Valid state issued driver's license Specialized or highly trained with the following equipment: Control Logix programming, hardware, and firmware upgrades RSLinx Factory talk asset Centre Factory Talk Studio and Client addition (New HMIs) Some form of IT or computer networking from Cisco or Rockwell software and hardware components such as Stratix 8000, 5200, or 6000 switches Powerflex drives 755, 753, 525, and 523 (Powerflex 700 are very similar so that would be okay) Working knowledge of power systems, HMI's, PLC's, Large Motor Drives and Motors Demonstrated initiative and independent thought Discretion and tact in dealing with interpersonal situations Ability to relay information effectively and accurately to individuals and groups Ability to use computer and software including Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel Recordkeeping and maintaining paper and electronic documents for record retention Specialized knowledge or skills needed: Ability to perform routine and non-routine tasks and stay on track Ability to work with interruptions Understand the sense of urgency required and act accordingly Exercise of independent thought and apply independent judgment within scope of the job Ability to work without direct, constant supervision Ability to work through circumstances and tasks that are not always clearly defined Organizational skills, detail-oriented Customer service attitude and approach Ethical and professional behaviors Set priorities appropriately and be responsive to changes that require refocusing Ability to self-manage projects and handle multiple tasks.
