Position Overview The Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) is seeking a dedicated office coordinator to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the clinical department. This position will assist the IDOC facility on processing grievances within the facility. This person will need to have strong attention to detail, integrity and ability to effectively communicate with multiple parties. We encourage all interested and qualified individuals to apply. Essential Functions * Provides a general review of initial incoming grievances for indications of Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or concerns of imminent danger. * Serves as unit secretary providing specialized office support functions. * Receives and directs phone calls and messages to Clinical Services staff. * Copies and distributes grievances, correspondence, memoranda and other reports in an accurate and timely manner. * Serves as a member of the internal facility review team, conducting facility reviews in an accurate and timely manner. * Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications * Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two (2) years of secretarial/business college or requires completion of high school and two (2) years of related office experience or requires two (2) years of independent business experience. * Requires ability to keyboard accurately 30 words per minute. Preferred Qualifications * Prefers at least one (1) year of working experience dealing with grievances at the workplace. * Prefers at least one (1) year of working experience gathering information for report preparation. * Prefers at least one (1) year of working experience responding to inquiries from higher level staff and the public. * Prefers at least one (1) year of working experience using computer systems. * Prefers at least one (1) year of working experience organizing and filing paperwork. Conditions of Employment * Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check. * Requires ability to pass a drug screen.
