Job Summary: This position will manage commercial, industrial, and institutional project design teams and coordinate technical tasks including, but not limited to: conceptual site layout, utility design; roadway design; site grading design; storm drain design; storm water management design; water and sanitary sewer main design; soil erosion and sedimentation control design; floodplain studies; permitting and entitlement support; preparation of engineer's opinions of probable cost; preparation of proposals; and invoicing for engineering services. Accountability and Duties: * Review of engineering plans and specifications with respect to conformance to design standards and general engineering practice; preparation of design standards, and training and mentoring QA/QC staff. * Mentors and trains staff & key associates. * Coordinates production of final construction drawings and specifications. * Prepares and reviews engineer's opinions of probable cost. * Coordinates permits and approvals for applicable municipal agencies. * Prepares and reviews design calculations. * Prepares proposals for engineering services. * Ensures proposal protocol is followed. * Ensures timesheets are submitted on time. * Delegates specific project components to Project Managers, Project Engineers and Staff Engineers for completion. * Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects. * Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of projects for self, team members, and subordinates. * Maintains a good relationship with clients. * Participates in business development activities including: maintaining and expanding existing clients, and increasing service offerings as well as identifying new business opportunities. * Professionally represents the firm at client & municipal meetings/hearings. * Prepares and monitors project budgets, billing, and assists with A/R. * Keeps supervisor informed of work load and any changes in project scope or additional services. * Provides an accurate accounting of time spent on projects with descriptions for each time entry on a weekly basis. * Mentors and assists with training of Project Engineers and Staff Engineers. * Assists with the evaluation and development of engineering staff. Qualification Requirements: Registered professional engineer with ten years design experience in residential, commercial, or industrial land development projects. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: * PE license required * Valid driver's license Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Excellent oral and technical written communication skills for client contact. * Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines. * Ability to work independently and part of a team. * Ability to organize and manage multiple projects. * Ability to design/engineer moderately difficult engineering projects. * Ability to make independent decisions within a general framework. * Available to work nights and weekends to complete a project as necessary. * Proficient in MS Office * Must be fluent in the English language.
