The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. HRA/General Support Services (GSS) provides safe, healthy, and appropriate facilities for HRA's various social service programs. Its many functions include facilities planning and coordination, design and construction, renovation, repair and maintenance, custodial and other building services, health/safety program coordination, lease and property management, land use and environmental review activities, contract administration for facilities services, and warehouse operations. GSS plays a major role in HRA emergency preparedness. The Bureau of Printing and Distribution Services consists of the Print and Mail Distribution units that provides print production and mail processing, high resolution digital printing, copying, collating, binding, packing, and distribution of such materials as letter, forms, brochures, procedures, manuals, newsletters, pamphlets, flyers, directories, and other publications. General Support Services/ Bureau of Printing and Distribution Services is recruiting for one (1) Supervisor of Office Machine Operations - II to function as Poster Production Supervisor, who will: * Operate and maintain large posters and finishing equipment such as Wide format printers, Laminators, etc. * Set up laminating boards, pouch, vinyl for the printing of Posters and signages and ensure minimal quantity of supplies used. * Carefully cut, trim the edges of printed/mounted signages and posters. * Perform quality checks on all completed signage and posters to ensure the required dimensions are achieved as per work order specifications and minimize waste. * Carefully stack/pack completed signages and posters to prevent damages to the edges and ship to requestors. * Provide training and guidance to staff on proper operation of poster machines/equipment. * Assist in other areas of the shop as needed including Finishing, Shipping, Production Printing, Bindery, and Mail Distribution. Work Location: 10300 Foster Ave, Brooklyn. Hours/Schedule: Normal Business Hours Minimum Qualifications 1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and two years of satisfactory, full-time experience in the operation of office machines, such as photocopying machines, state-of-the-art scanning and digital reproduction equipment, including bin sorters and bin collectors, blueprint copying machines, digital postal machines, digital cutters, offset and bookbinding equipment, platemakers and associated equipment. An associate degree or 60 credits from an accredited college may be substituted for one year of experience; or 2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above. However, all candidates must have a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and must have at least one year of experience as stated in "1" above.
