Summary This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Superintendent, Fort Apache Agency in Whiteriver, Arizona. Implementation of stand analysis prescriptions developed by Forest Development Foresters and Silvicultrurists to meet stand objectives. This is a Bargaining Unit position, for more information see What are bargaining units? Responsibilities This is a Temporary Intermittent position Not-To-Exceed two years. This position will perform under the general supervision of a Forestry Technician (GS-5 to GS-7); and will be responsible for the fieldwork involved with the Forest Development activities that may include planting, site preparation and pre-commercial thinning. Your duties will include, but are not limited to: Marking trees for cutting and applying variety of complex marking rules. Assisting foresters and technicians with the collections of field data. Locating protective buffers around environmentally sensitive areas and archaeological sites. Protecting soil, watershed, wildlife habitat and other forest resources while conducting forest development activities. Assisting with vehicle maintenance, vehicle assignments, and vehicle reports. This position is OPEN UNTIL FILLED and may be extended or closed prior to the current closing date. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: GS-02: 3 months of general experience OR High School Diploma or equivalent degree. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: (1) Any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation. Can be evidenced by farming or ranching work that involved application of cultural, soil and water conservation practices, including safety and use of equipment, and that provided a basic understanding of land use; or forest or range fire control, prevent on, or suppression work.
