Field Service TechnicianDEFINITION: Diagnose, adjust, repair, fertilizer equipment, such as drag conveyors, elevator legs, blenders, valves, floor, and tower components and, etc. used in the industries we serve.SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to Service Manager.SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS: NoneESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:Adjust and maintain agricultural storage and conveying equipment as necessary.Operate and inspect equipment to diagnose issues.Examine equipment for damage or excessive wear.Repair and troubleshoot air systems.Weld broken parts using electric or gas welders.Test equipment to ensure operating correctly.Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance on equipment.Log and keep equipment service records.Other duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY: Always follow OSHA safety rules. Safety Awareness, ability to identify and correct conditions that affect safety for yourself and others. Safely operate service vehicle, perform daily pre-inspections, responsible for basic vehicle maintenance and comply with all safe work practices, and policies of the company.Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.Communication, Oral - Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.Technical aptitude, ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information. Detail Oriented, Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.Reliability, dependable and trustworthy.Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely.Time Management, ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines.Ability to use work order software programs, ERP software, Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Excel and Word.Perform work at customer's location to repair mechanical equipment.Able to operate company vehicle. Must maintain a clean driving record and adhere to all DOT regulations pertaining to our company, including passing DOT physical, annual and random drug testing as required by law.The ability to climb stairs and ladders to reach work areas and be comfortable working at heights.Travel minimum 60%, varies seasonally. Ability to obtain a DOT Health Card.• 2+ years in welding, portable machining, and mechanical repairs.Possesses qualities such as productivity, dependability, resourcefulness, efficiency, and professionalism.WORK ENVIORNMENT:• Works from a base office in Waconia or Norwood Young America, and travels to customer sites as directed. The employee is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions including, cold, heat, noise, vibration, hazards, various atmospheric conditions, dust/dirt, grease/oils, fumes, chemicals, equipment pits, moving parts of machinery and all-weather conditions.
