Job Description

Position Summary/Objective Perform custodial duties and minor repairs. Assist in sanitation control, grounds, housekeeping duties, and floor care. Interact with other departments and assist when possible. Receive supervision from Maintenance Supervisor and Plant Supervisor. Most normal duties and responsibilities are handled independently with the use of established procedures. Difficult or unique situations are referred to Maintenance Supervisor. Duties and Responsibilities * Perform cleaning and janitorial duties (warehouse, shipping, packaging, slitting room, pressroom bathrooms, and plant floor, cafeteria, and office area. * Limited grounds maintenance (walkways, weeds, and trash pickup) and outdoor pickup. * Keeps janitor's closet neat and orderly. Report supply needs to Maintenance Supervisor and Plant Supervisor. * Pick up trash and debris around building. Help rest maintenance department with snow removal. Maintain plant 2 walkways after initial snow removal. * Dispose of all trash from the building. That includes but is not limited to trash barrels, cardboard, and wood. Report when dumpster is full to Maintenance Supervisor * Assist in checking plant for safety hazards and report any deficiency. * Handle any minor repairs * Quickly respond to the needs of the Maintenance Supervisor * Assist in keeping the physical plant clean and orderly. * Perform additional related duties as required by Maintenance Foreman or Maintenance Supervisor. * Responsible for daily workload and prioritizing jobs. * Keep up a floor care program that involves but not limited to stripping, sealing and waxing floors and stairwells throughout Astro-Nova. Ensure floor buffing is done at least once a week. * Follow directions, apply and make needed repairs. * Reports any problems or major issues to Supervisor. * Set up and tear down conference and meeting rooms, as well as offices, as needed. This includes arranging tables, desks, chairs, equipment, etc., to best utilize space, room amenities or according to occupant's preference. * Assist in checking plants/main building hazards and deficiencies. * Maintain a monthly inventory of supplies Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Required Education and Experience * Some custodial and housekeeping experience preferred. * At least one-year experience performing building maintenance. * High School diploma or equivalent combination of training and experience. Additional Preferred Skills, Experience, and Certifications * Ability to follow direction, apply and make needed repairs. * Ability to pay attention to details, and meet deadlines. * Ability to deal with demands and demanding individuals. * Ability to use reason to solve maintenance related problems. Physical Requirements * Finger agility, ability to push, pull, equipment, etc. as needed. * Ability to carry tools, stand for long periods of time, climb steps, stoop, reach, bend and grasp objects. * Physically able to lift, bend, stoop, and reach. Monday - Friday, 11:30AM - 8:00PM
