Job Description Hours: Full-Time - 35 Hours Work Location: 30-30 Thomson Avenue, LIC, NY 11101 Only candidates who are permanent in the Forester title, or reachable on the Open-Competitive List (Exam #1154 or Exam #3070) may apply. The NYC Department of Design and Construction's Division of Infrastructure is seeking an Arborist Liaison to support the LANDSCAPE team. This role requires a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture, the successful candidate will support the agency's design Consultants and in-house Design teams in creating and evaluating Tree Inventory Reports; generating the necessary NYC Parks Tree Inventory Valuation Reports; aiding in the formulation of Tree Impact Mitigation Plans and overseeing the approval process of these documents with NYC Parks Central and Borough Forestry divisions. Moreover, the candidate will oversee the Tree Impact Mitigation details library, craft new details as needed, ensure that design drawings, details, and specifications include all necessary tree information; collaborate with NYC Parks Natural Resources group for approvals on projects near or within Parkland; contribute to the development and upkeep of tree-related standards in agency's design directives and guidelines; participate in preconstruction meetings to address tree concerns; support Construction Management field staff with tree-related issues during construction phases; liaise with NYC Parks on construction and Tree Removal Permits; conduct health assessments of trees alongside NYC Parks Forestry; prepare Tree Replacement estimates for trees scheduled for removal; and conduct site visits as required to fulfill the described duties. A master's degree from an accredited college or university, with a specialization in forestry or a related subject, or; 2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, with a specialization in forestry or a related subject and one year of full-time professional experience in forestry or arboricultural work or; 3. An associate degree from an accredited college or university, with a specialization in forestry or a related subject and three (3) years of full-time professional experience in forestry or arboricultural work or; 4. A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to "1","2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must have at least an associate degree with a specialization in forestry or a related subject. License Requirement A Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of your employment."
