Work Shifts ROTATING Job Description Responsibilities: •Must wear PPE appropriately and in the appropriate area of the department. •Cleans. decontaminates, inspects, assembles, sterilizes, anc1 transports equipment, supplies and instruments according to manufacturer's IFU and prescribed procedures and techniques. •Cleans, decontaminates, inspects, lligl1 level disinfects, assembles and transports FlexibleFiberscopes, I1 Transvaginal Probes, TEE Probes, Manometer Probes, Bougies, etc. according to manufacturer's IFU. •Sterilizes instruments, equipment, surgical linens and supplies including surgical packs, surgical trays and syringes using steam or gas sterilizers or disinfects will1 antiseptic solutions according to manufacturer's IFU. •Operates semi automatic sterilizing equipment; operates mechanical decontamination equipment and other related equipment. e.g., ultra-sonic washers, rinsers/dryers according to manufacturer's IFU. •Prepares packages of supplies and instrument trays, needles, syringes and gloves according to prescribed procedures; wraps, labels and seals according to manufacturer's IFU. •Prepares list of contents and affixes list to package or groups of packages. Documented designation of Grandfathered status as a Central Service Technician. For Appointment to Level II: 1. Hold and maintain a Certified Registered Central Service Technician credential issued by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA); or 2. Hold and maintain a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician credential issued by the Certifying Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD). Note: Effective January 1, 2015, all newly hired incumbents to the title of Central Service Technician must hold and maintain a Certified Registered Central Service Technician credential or a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician credential and be assigned at Level II. In addition, any employee who functions as a Central Service Technician will be required to annually complete ten (10) hours of continuing education credits in order to remain qualified to perform the functions of a Central Service Technician at an NYC Health + Hospitals facility.
