Job Description: Our client is a risk pool offering self-insured property/casualtycoverage to park districts, special recreation associationsand forest preserve/conservation districts in northern Illinois. Due to growth, they are seeking a Claims Consultant specializing in managing commercial liability claimsto join their team. The Claims Consultant will be responsible for managing a caseload comprised of the following liability coverage lines: general, bodily injury andproperty damage, personal injury, sexual misconduct,public officials errors and omissions, and employment practices.This position is hybrid in Illinois. Responsibilities: Investigate, evaluate, negotiate and settle liability claims. Determine coverage, claims compensability, and establish and maintain reserves. Communicate with member representatives, witnesses, claimants and their attorneys, defense counseland internal staff. Communicate with excess carriers and reinsurers to give status updates, financial information, damage documentation and to request reinsurance recovery. Communicate relevant claim trends to internal risk managementstaff to support loss control intervention programs and member-specific interventions. Manage litigated files, including coordination of assignment and supporting the development of the defense strategy. Assistwith responding to auditor requests for informationand by providing other assistance in support of auditing processes, as requested. Provide data, claims summariesand other relevant information as requested. Present claim status update reports and recommendations to risk pool governance bodies, reinsurers and other stakeholders, as requested.
