Position Summary: The Dietitian will be responsible for providing quality nutrition care and education to patients and family members. The person in this role will work under the direction of the Nurse Manager and will assess the nutritional status of patients and recommend the appropriate medical nutrition therapy as it pertains to the patients' nutritional needs following the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' Scope of Practice. Additionally, the Dietitian will provide nutrition counseling to patients and family members as indicated. Duties and Responsibilities: Plans, evaluates, and provides individual patient consultations and group education program including nutrition consultation with family members, staff and physicians Provide nutritional care to adult patients using the Nutrition Care Process (nutrition screening, assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring & evaluation) Closely monitor and follow up with nutrition high risk patients throughout their treatment Provide nutrition care to patients in the initial recovery period (4-6 weeks post treatment) as needed/requested Evaluate nutrition care plans for effectiveness and recommends changes as needed Conduct malnutrition screening and perform nutrition focused physical exam as needed Apply professional judgment to adapt and apply guidelines, protocols and professional standards of care to the new and changing needs of the patient Stays current with most recent nutrition related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice In charge of maintaining oral nutrition supplements supply at the Center Prescribes food and other nutrients including nutritional support per protocol or under the direction of the Physician Develops and updates nutrition education handouts l for outpatient setting Develops and implements medically supervised physician monitored weight management program as needed according to health plan requirements Comply with all New York Proton Center policies related to Privacy Rules established under the Health Information Privacy and Portability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) Perform other job-related duties, as assigned Qualifications: Bachelors in nutrition/dietetics with appropriate pre-approved experience Registered Dietitian (RD) from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) Minimum two years of previous experience Maintain a positive attitude with changing conditions Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills About the Area: New York City is a major metropolitan city and is home to world-renowned cultural offerings. The salary range and/or hourly rate displayed is a determination of base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
