Essential Skills and Responsibilities: Be proactive in planning, meeting, and preparing show logistics, rehearsal plans and vision with your entire team. Collaborate with team (Director/Musical Director) Review the show score, tracks, script and make as many edits before the start of the production. Available for Auditions and Callbacks for Production - prepared to teach choreography during auditions Prepare choreography for every rehearsal by never improvising, but having a clear plan of what to teach. Teach & direct creatively and challenge students to be successful Be creative in your choreography and deliberate to tell the story, bring out the importance of the lyrics and feature all students with a variety of layers to feature beginners, intermediate and advanced dancers Video record choreography, upload to the google family folder daily for students to access Manage time carefully. Be prepared to ensure teaching is efficient and thoughtful Be prepared and organized daily for rehearsals, with prepared materials and music ready to go Classroom / Rehearsal management is vital Ensure a well-managed, respectful, professional and fun class/rehearsal space Lead with patience and professionalism at all times. It's your job to Inspire students to work their hardest Delegate Production Assistants to assist students who need extra help Leave time daily to clean and organize work areas - safety and cleanliness are priorities Candidate Qualifications: Dance training and experience: A strong background in dance is essential Understanding of movement: Choreographers need to have a strong understanding of movement and how to tell a story with it Knowledge of music: Choreographers need to have a good understanding of music, including rhythm and timing Physical Requirements: This position requires the performance of light work-which may require exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. The position includes close visual acuity, frequent talking, hearing, walking and standing, occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed in non-hazardous environments and a clean atmosphere.
