Salary: $49,158.00 - $73,737.00 Annually Location : Wake County, NC Job Type: Permanent Full-Time Job Number: CR Department: Adult Correction Division: Operations Opening Date: 09/09/2024 Closing Date: 9/23/2024 5:00 PM Eastern Job Class Title: Clinical Dietitian Position Number: Section: Comprehensive Health Services Salary Grade: MH12 Description of Work Position is a Clinical Dietitian located at Central Prison Healthcare Complex in Raleigh, which houses approximately 1318 close custody male offenders. The primary purpose of the Medical Dietitian position is to assess the nutritional status of offenders and make recommendations to provider regarding optimal medical nutrition therapy. The following is a summary/list of responsibilities: Will complete nutrition assessment of the offender and counsel on therapeutic diet compliance. Will provide nutrition in-services to food service and medical staff? Will serve as the liaison between Food Management and the Medical Departments, assuring therapeutic diet orders are written per the DAC - Prisons policy as well promoting accurate implementation of therapeutic diets. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities listed below, along with the Minimum Education and Experience requirements, are REQUIRED to qualify for this position. To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess the following: Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Nutrition Therapy and how it relates to chronic disease. Documented proficiency in assessing nutritional status. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Master's degree in foods and nutrition or a related area from an appropriately accredited institution that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and current registration, in good standing, administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR); or Bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition, dietetics, or related area from an appropriately accredited institution that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and current registration, in good standing, administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and two years of experience in a clinical dietary setting. Their goal is to ensure that all offenders receive full-spectrum medical care from the time of entry until their release. The team of physicians, nurses, behavioral health services, dental services, psychiatric services, pharmacy services, and licensed healthcare administration services work together to provide emergent, acute, routine, and chronic health care, as well as preventive medicine at all prison facilities. They also coordinate with specialists and other clinical consultants outside of prisons throughout the state to ensure comprehensive health and well-being towards a safe transition from prison, improving public health, and decreasing recidivism.
