At Guac, we're on a mission to solve grocery food waste with predictive ML. We forecast exactly how much of each product will sell, to put an end to the millions of tons of food that goes to waste every single day due to bad inventory replenishment.We're currently working with major supermarket chains in the US (you've probably shopped at some of them before), and we're backed by Y Combinator, 1984 Ventures, Collaborative Fund, and angels from Instacart and Citadel Securities.We're seeking a talented Senior Solutions Engineer to join our team in-person in New York to help shape the future of grocery!About the RoleAs a Senior Solutions Engineer at Guac, your time will be split between direct customer facing work and data engineering work.You'll be working directly with our customers to understand their needs, build solutions using our products and technologies, and ensure successful technical integrations. Your customer facing work will include:Collaborating directly with customers' technical teams to understand their IT infrastructure and system implementationsWorking with customers' internal supply chain and store operations teams to understand and then implement their unique business logic In addition to direct customer facing work, you will have ownership over building and maintaining ETL infrastructure and data integrations for customer deployments:Designing and implementing scalable data pipelines for processing large-scale data across multiple customersLeading integrations with our customers IT systems and data sources Expanding our recommendation engine to meet the business needs of new customersContributing to our backend services to serve our mobile and web applicationsYou'll be working across languages and technologies such as: Python, FastAPI, Dagster, GCP (including BigQuery), Dask, and SQL. About YouAt least 3 years of relevant work experience and a minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer ScienceExcellent communication skills and commercial mindset, with experience in customer-facing technical rolesProven experience designing and implementing ETL systems, especially across large distributed data setsExisting background in backend development (Python/FastAPI) is a big plusWhy Work with UsIntellectually challenging problems that require a lot of thinking and creativity (like how to scale ML systems across diverse grocery chains).
