Great relocation assistance provided.Job DescriptionThe Analytical Lab Manager will be responsible for leading a team of Scientists and Technicians in the Research & Innovation Center. They must have a deep understanding of analytical and rheological techniques used in the analysis of formulated polymer products. The techniques should include but are not limited to TGA, DSC, GC, DMA, rheometer, FTIR, MS, GPC, SEM, and elemental analysis. They needs to be familiar with analysis of formulation components, such as polymers, fillers, plasticizers, lubricants, flame retardants, catalysts, stabilizers, curatives, catalysts, etc. They need to be knowledgeable about physical and chemical separation techniques and have the ability to breakdown complex formulations. The Analytical Lab Manager is responsible for building their team, managing the daily operation of the lab and expanding CCM's expertise related to identifying, developing and implementing new analytical methods and techniques to better understand and predict formulation interactions and long term performance. In addition, he/she has the responsibility for identifying and purchasing analytical equipment necessary to expand the lab's capability. This position reports to the R&D Director.Responsibilities:Leading the group responsible for developing new and improved methods and techniques in chromatography, spectroscopy, microscopy, rheology, and physical and chemical separation techniques.Leading the group responsible for identifying, developing and implementing analytical methods and techniques to better understand and predict formulation interactions and long term performance.Responsible for building CCM's knowledge on fundamental properties of formulation components, such as polymers, fillers, plasticizers, lubricants, flame retardants, catalysts, stabilizers, curatives, etc.Lead analytical project teams that support product development projects as well as trouble shooting product, process and field installation issues for different product lines.Provide technical support and assistance to product managers, R&D chemists and engineers, production and warranty group.Manage the calibration, performance monitoring, maintenance and operation of equipment.Create & implement standards & processes that maintain a safe and clean work environment in the analytical lab.Preferred Experience:PhD. Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science or Material Science with 5+ years of relevant experience.Experience managing a team of Analytical Scientists & Analytical TechniciansAdvanced analytical knowledge in commonly used analytical and rheological techniques including TGA, DSC, GC, LC, DMA, rheometer, FTIR, MS, GPC, NMR, SEM, AFM and elemental analysisFamiliar with analysis of formulation components, such as polymers, fillers, plasticizers, lubricants, flame retardants, catalysts, stabilizers, curatives, etc.Knowledgeable with physical and chemical separation techniquesExcellent problem solving skillsStrong background in statisticsStrong computer skills with proficiency on Microsoft Word & ExcelProficient verbal and written communication skillsAble to work well in a team environmentJob Type: Full-time
