Job Description

Success Profile:The Freelance Sportswear Designer assists in the creation and design for a competitive fashion product line that strikes a balance between relevant commercial product and brand right emotional fashion, that will collectively grow the business according to the brand strategic and financial objectives for the customer.Responsibilities:Strong background in cut and sew knitsComplete all aspects of design packages - sketching, tech packs, creating and maintaining line sheetsIdentify seasonal fashion direction & merchandise trends and client needsCreate seasonal presentation boards highlighting fabric, color and print directionResearch and develop innovative trims each seasonResearch and source new fabricsPrepare and maintain tech packs from initial development through bulkOrganize and maintain design development including artwork, trims, fabric worksheets, initial development, finalized tech pack, line list, etc.Attend garment fittings and assist technical designersRevise and update information in tech packs and communicate changes/updates to factoriesSubmit and approve artwork/strike-offs, wash panels, lab dips, etc.Manage and adhere to Time and Action CalendarEducation and Experience:BA in Fashion Design5+ years experience with women's sportswear design (Cut and sew knits)Experience in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop CS, MS Excel, and MS Office SuiteExperience working with overseas factories, agents and fabric and trim vendorsStrong communication skills, both written and oralAbility to work cross functionally, building strong relationships between various departmentsStrong eye for trends and abreast on current industry news/developmentsSkills and Behaviors:Advanced MS Excel skills: data manipulation, pivot tables, v-lookupWorking knowledge of PLM, Illustrator, Photoshop.Strong project management and multi-tasking skills with critical attention to detailConfident, engaging verbal and written communication skillsMotivated to work in a high energy environment at the speed of fashion with ever-changing prioritiesAbility to work independently and work to meet multiple deadlinesAbility to build and maintain relationships with other departments as well as vendors and other overseas officesAbout G-III Apparel Group, Ltd. | G-III excels at bringing excitement and confidence to customers through the fashion we create.
