About the role - Materials Coordinator The purpose of this position is to serve as the on-site principal (within the Material Management & Logistics – MML framework) that coordinates all material availability at the right time and at minimum cost.Duties and ResponsibilitiesWorks with Production, Production Control & Central MML functions to achieve on-time completion of Events as it pertains to Material availability at minimum (logistics) costs.Challenge, screen and support Central MML team in material requests clarifications and finding local alternative options involving Production and Engineering e.g. optional repairs, alternative P/N’s, deferrals etc.Liaising with Central MML functions to develop market knowledge and contacts for new products and services, looking for opportunities to establish partnerships with suppliers with the aim of reducing price and lead timesCoordinate with Production and liaise with Sales, Central Management functions to ensure that approved alternates are used as allowed within customer contractual agreements (especially in case of sourcing problems e.g. Swaps, in-house fabrication etc.).Work in co-operation with Production and Central MML team to maximise inventory usage and minimise inventory levels.Review requisitions for completeness e.g. quantity, Part Number, description, approval signatures and accounting codes.Coordinate the Subcontracting of Part as it pertains to Material Management e.g. raising Subcontract PO’s, progressing order books with suppliers and handling quotations, queries etcSourcing products and services from the market, negotiating pricing, and drafting contractsLiaise with Production and Logistics teams to identify ‘time-critical’ items which will be transmitted to the Central MML team.Support Central MML functions in the negotiation of contracts to secure materials and obtain best cost opportunities.Liaise with Production and Stores to coordinate Material ‘Return to Stores’ efforts.Participate in Project Team Meeting & Customer Update Meetings, take away action items, provide priorities to Stores for issuing and follow up on items during the dayLiaising with the Logistics Team (on-site/off-site) and providing status updates (as necessary).Support the Compliance teams on regulatory Material reporting parameters.Direct & ad-hoc purchasing of items in accordance with the MML and established policies and procedures.Perform technical tasks that the manager appoints the employee.Possess an awareness and understanding of responsibilities outlined in the Company’s environmental procedures.You may be required to train personnel within a specified area, subject to your qualifications and experience Education and QualificationsTechnical / Aviation background, preferably a university degreeProfessional experience with aircraft maintenance and overhaul of minimum 3 years (preferred)Good knowledge of other logistics processes (planning & purchasing, warehouse, transport)Excellent communication skillsExperience and KnowledgeStrong analytical skillsGood commercial experience and sound financial awarenessSound project management experienceGood IT skills, particularly ExcelPersonal QualitiesExcellent administrative skills/abilityExcellent attention to detailWillingness to work according to checklists and provide status reportsAbility to adapt to changing priorities, work environments, management styles and business trends.Ability to develop and apply creative and innovative solutions to problemsDirect ReportsNo direct reports Working ConditionsOffice environment, based in HayesFull time roleHybrid working policy applicablePotential travel requiredAdditional RequirementsCandidate must have the right to live and work in the UK unrestrictedMandatory Training will be requiredTeam spirit, sense of responsibility and very good interpersonal skillsStrong personality, high assertivenessAble to handle high-pressure situationsComputer literate, preferably SAP knowledgeAbility to generate new ideas and identify potential for improvement within your working areaFluent in English (both written and spoken).If you feel that you are suitable for this position, apply today.
