Job TitleJunior MerchandiserReports ToHead of MerchandisingJob OverviewReporting to the Head of Merchandising, you will support the delivery of a profitable and well-balanced range, taking ownership of key categories and helping to ensure availability, stock efficiency, and strong trading performance across the season.You’ll monitor sales and stock performance, provide accurate data to inform decisions, and work closely with suppliers to support intake and delivery plans. This role also involves working with the Buying team to support product planning and intake alignment.This is a great opportunity for someone stepping up from Senior Assistant level—combining analytical strength with sound commercial awareness, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive approach to managing risk and opportunity.Key ResponsibilitiesPlanning & Trading•Support the delivery of departmental sales, stock, and profit targets across defined product categories.•Monitor WSSI performance and provide weekly updates and reforecasts to support decision-making.•Contribute to forward planning by tracking intake, reviewing phasing, and proposing actions to optimise availability and minimise risk.•Prepare weekly trade, month end and seasonal reports and summaries with clear, actionable insights.•Support the planning of promotional activity and markdowns in line with stock and sales targets.Stock Management•Manage and maintain line cards with accurate, timely updates—taking full ownership of continuity line data and availability.•Propose repeats and OTB in line with sales performance and agreed stock levels. •Monitor supplier delivery performance and communicate issues clearly and promptly.•Ensure critical path alignment with Buying and highlight any delays or intake issues.Supplier & Stakeholder Relationships•Build strong working relationships with suppliers to support smooth intake flow and on-time delivery.•Communicate clearly with the Buying team on stock risks, opportunities, and trading actions.•Attend trade meetings as required and contribute updates with confidence and clarity.Team & Process•Support the training and development of the Allocator, providing day-to-day guidance and sharing best practice.•Contribute to process improvements and ways of working that help the team operate more efficiently.•Act as a key point of contact for your categories and deputise for the Merchandiser in internal meetings as needed, often picking up hands-on responsibilities typically supported by an Assistant Merchandiser.Skills & Experience•Experience at Senior Assistant Merchandiser or Junior Merchandiser level.•Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of trading levers and KPIs.•High level of numerical and analytical skills, with confidence in Excel (formulas, pivot tables, XLOOKUPs).•Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.•Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners—including CEO and board level stakeholders.•Proactive, curious, and eager to take ownership and contribute to team success.
