Bank Recovery Nurse for Day Surgery unit:Key Responsibilities:Patient Admission:Review pre-operative records, assess patients upon arrival in the recovery area, and ensure all necessary documentation is completed.Recovery:Monitor vital signs, administer pain relief, manage any post-surgical complications, and ensure patients are fully recovered from anaesthesia before discharge.Discharge Planning:Provide post-operative instructions and guidance to patients and their families regarding care at home. Ensure all discharge documentation is completed accurately.Collaboration:Work closely with anaesthetists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a smooth recovery process.Requirements:Registered Nurse with active NMC registration.Proven experience in recovery care, HDU, and ITU.Experience in Day surgery, including patient admission, discharge, anaesthesia recovery and post-surgical monitoring of both adult and paediatric patients.Strong communication and critical thinking skills.2. Bank Anaesthetic Nurse/ODP (Operating Department Practitioner):Key Responsibilities:Pre-operative Assessment:Assist in preparing patients for anaesthesia, ensuring all pre-operative checks are completed.Anaesthesia Assistance:Prepare anaesthesia equipment and drugs, assist anaesthetists during induction and maintenance of anaesthesia.Monitoring:Monitor patients' vital signs throughout surgery, ensuring any issues are quickly addressed.Post-anaesthesia Care:Assist in the recovery phase, ensuring the patient is safely transitioned from anaesthesia and managed post-operatively.Patient Safety:Ensure a sterile environment is maintained and assist with infection control protocols.Equipment Management:Ensure all anaesthetic equipment is properly maintained and available for use.Requirements:Registered Nurse or ODP with relevant qualifications and active registration.Proven experience in anaesthesia, including operating theatre experience.Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to stay calm under pressure.3. Bank Endoscopy Nurse (Gastro/Colonoscopies, Hysteroscopy/Cystoscopy):Key Responsibilities:Patient Preparation:Ensure patients are adequately prepared for endoscopic procedures, including pre-procedure assessments and explanations of the process.Assistance during Procedures:Provide support to the endoscopist by preparing equipment, monitoring patients, and ensuring their comfort.Patient Monitoring:Monitor vital signs during the procedure and assist in patient recovery post-procedure, ensuring they are stable before discharge.Patient Education:Provide patients with post-procedure care instructions, explaining potential side effects and when to seek medical attention.Infection Control:Maintain strict infection control measures and ensure the endoscopy unit is properly cleaned and maintained after each procedure.Requirements:Registered Nurse with active NMC registration.Experience in endoscopy procedures, particularlygastroscopy, colonoscopy, hysteroscopy,andcystoscopy.Ability to work under pressure, with excellent attention to detail and patient care skills.5 Bank Theatre PorterKey Responsibilities: Patient Transportation:Assist in the safe and efficient transportation of patients to and from the operating theatres, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.Theatre Preparation:Support theatre teams by ensuring that surgical rooms are properly set up, with all necessary equipment and sterile supplies in place before and after procedures.Equipment Management:Transport medical equipment and supplies to and from theatres, ensuring everything is ready and available for procedures.Cleanliness and Sterilisation:Ensure the cleanliness and sterility of the operating theatres, including the safe disposal of waste and cleaning of equipment and surfaces after each procedure.Assisting Theatre Staff:Provide general assistance to theatre nurses, surgeons, and other staff as needed, including helping with patient positioning, holding equipment, or preparing items for use during surgery.Stock Control:Help with the restocking of theatre supplies and the monitoring of stock levels to ensure theatre areas are consistently well-stocked.Health and Safety Compliance:Follow all hospital protocols regarding infection control, patient safety, and health and safety standards.
