Senior Medical Writer, RemoteLocation: UK (Remote) -some travel requiredEmployment Type and Hours: Employed, full-time, 37.5 hours per week. The ideal candidate will have a passion for nutrition communication, a strong understanding of medical and scientific literature, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality content.Key ResponsibilitiesContent CreationProduce clear, accurate, and evidence-based written content, including white papers, websites, educational materials, case studies, and marketing collateral.Translate complex scientific and nutritional information into accessible and engaging language for various target audiences.Ensure all content adheres to relevant industry guidelines, company style guides, and client specifications.Research and AnalysisConduct in-depth research to support content creation, critically evaluating scientific literature and data.Stay current on the latest developments in nutrition, health science, and regulatory guidelines to ensure content is up-to-date and accurate.Client LiaisonCollaborate with clients and internal teams to understand project objectives, providing clear and proactive communication throughout the writing process.Manage client feedback and revisions, ensuring the final content aligns with client goals and exceeds expectations.Quality ControlReview and edit content for clarity, structure, and accuracy, ensuring high editorial standards are maintained.Proofread and mark-up reference materials, ensuring all sources are appropriately cited.Veeva management (e.g., responding to comments/uploading and linking references)Assist in maintaining the HRSs scientific and editorial standards.Project ManagementManage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and according to client specifications.Demonstrate flexibility in handling changing priorities and timelines.Team Collaboration and MentorshipMentor junior writers and support their development through feedback and guidance.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, project managers, and medical experts, to ensure the success of each project.Support with growing and managing a pool of freelance medical writers.Strategic InputContribute to the development of content strategies, helping clients align their communications with business objectives.Provide insight on content trends and best practices within the nutrition and healthcare sectors.Proven ExperienceA degree in a relevant scientific or medical field (e.g., nutrition, biology, health communication) Advanced degree (Masters/PhD) in a relevant field is desirable.Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical writing in a healthcare or nutrition communications agency settingHas demonstrable knowledge and understanding of 2 or more clinical areas (preferably dietetic-related)Proven track record in creating high-quality, evidence-based content for diverse audiences (e.g., healthcare professionals, consumers).Skills Required Technical SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe tools for mark-ups.Familiarity with content management systems and Veeva Vault for document management.Strong knowledge of relevant scientific research methodologies and data analysis.Familiarity with referencing software such as Endnote.Communication SkillsExceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with attention to detail and consistency.Ability to present complex scientific concepts in clear, accessible language.Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.Project ManagementExcellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Personal Attributes:Attention to Detail: A keen eye for accuracy and consistency.Proactive: Able to anticipate needs and solve problems independently.Collaborative: A team player who thrives in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.Curious: Constantly seeking to learn and develop expertise in new therapeutic areas and trends in nutrition science.Adaptable: Comfortable working in a flexible, fast-paced, and changing environment.To apply for this role, please submit your writing portfolio, CV and cover letter to our Hiring Manager, Amber Clifton:amber.clifton@hrscommunications.comWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity in our workforce.
