Job Description

Main Duties & Responsibilities:Assisting with business development activity to further enhance, grow and diversify the structural engineering capabilities within the organisationOversee and develop engineering solutions from concept through to implementation stageEngaging with and managing the needs of clients and fellow professionalsWorking closely with key stakeholders to deliver solutions which exceed client expectationsAttending meetings and communicating with clients to establish their needsManaging all deliverables to ensure client satisfaction and commercial and technical project successMaintaining high technical standards consistent with the project briefEnsuring all projects are completed in a timely and cost-effective wayIdentifying key learning points and communicating these across the group and/or the wider businessManaging project team to ensure production of deliverables to agreed timelines and within budgetManage all technical aspects of the team’s project work are undertaken in accordance with the Company Management System and Health and Safety ProceduresBeing innovative in changing the design of buildings through a knowledge of Structural EngineeringSupporting other senior management within the business with technical developmentProviding technical guidance and mentoring to junior members of the teamRepresenting Richard Jackson Ltd externally at conferences and seminars promoting the vision and values of the CompanyGeneralAt all times work safely, ensuring your own safety and that of others in the CompanyAt all times work within all Company procedures and protocolsUndertake other duties as reasonably requested by the CompanyPerson SpecificationKnowledge / Experience / Qualifications:Chartered (or Incorporated) Engineer through the Institution of Structural Engineers or the Institution Civil of Engineers.In-depth knowledge of engineering procedures and standardsGood awareness of building design beyond own disciplineAble to design and deliver structural engineering solutions on major and/or complex projectsStrategic thinker with proven experience of developing and implementing creative and successful engineering solutionsExcellent programme management skills including the ability to handle multiple projectsExpert in providing project management guidance and direction on multi-disciplinary projectsAble to understand the balance of engineering priorities on differing projectsAble to motivate individuals to work collaboratively as a teamExcellent people management skills and experience of managing staff at all levelsEncouraging others to deliver elegant, practical and safe engineering solutionsAble to quickly develop successful client relationships and internal relationshipsAble to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines is essentialExcellent communications skills (both written and verbal)A passion for working with clients and fellow professionals who care about their projects and mentoring the team to achieve these valuesPersonal attributes and skills required to perform in the job effectivelyAbility to:Demonstrate strong commercial awarenessEmploy effective communication skills, both verbal, written and by emailWork methodically and accuratelyWork well on own initiative and as part of a teamMulti-task, prioritise and manage time effectivelyBe flexible to meet deadlinesRemain calm when under pressureHave a ‘can do’ attitudeThink outside the boxBenefits:Company pensionCycle to work schemeEmployee discountHealth & wellbeing programmeLife insuranceReferral programmeFull-time, permanent, in office.Richard Jackson Ltd is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
