This is a ground-floor opportunity to build and shape our commercial presence in the UK transport and FTL market. As our Senior Sales Manager, you will have the unique chance to develop our sales function from scratch, reporting directly to the Country Director and Product Director.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Market DevelopmentResearch and analyze the UK FTL market landscape, identifying key segments and competitor positioningDevelop a comprehensive go-to-market sales strategy to penetrate and capture market shareEstablish pricing frameworks that balance competitiveness with profitabilityLead Generation & Business DevelopmentProactively identify and engage potential clients for FTL services across the UKBuild an initial prospect database utilizing networking, industry events, targeted outreach, and B2B digital marketing techniquesRepresent our brand at trade shows, conferences, and relevant industry events to raise awareness and generate opportunitiesFull Sales Cycle ManagementLead the entire sales process from initial contact through to contract closureCreate and deliver compelling service presentations tailored to client needsDevelop customized proposals that address specific logistics requirementsNegotiate rates, service terms, and contracts ensuring profitability and operational alignmentClient Relationship BuildingEstablish strong, trust-based relationships with key clientsUnderstand clients' evolving logistics needs to ensure service satisfaction and foster loyaltyDevelop a reputation for reliability that encourages client referrals and testimonialsInternal CollaborationWork closely with Operations, Pricing, and Customer Service teams to ensure service viability and successful implementationMaintain fluid communication across departments to deliver seamless client experiencesPerformance Tracking & ReportingImplement effective sales tracking systems (CRM) to monitor pipeline developmentTrack key performance indicators including conversion rates and revenue generationProvide regular reporting and accurate forecasting to managementEssential RequirementsProven track record (5+ years) as a Sales Manager or Business Development Manager in the logistics/transport sector, with specific experience in FTL services within the UKIn-depth knowledge of the UK ground transport and FTL market including key players, routes, pricing structures, trends, and regulationsEstablished network of contacts within the UK logistics industry and/or with shipping companiesDemonstrated ability to build a commercial function or client portfolio from the ground upExceptional negotiation, communication, and presentation skillsResults-oriented with strong initiative and ability to work autonomouslyWillingness to travel throughout the UK as requiredDesired QualificationsExperience with CRM platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.)Knowledge of complementary transport modes (LTL, intermodal)University degree in Business Administration, Logistics, International Trade, or related field
