participation.The Company:Weve been retained by an environmental and ecological consultancy based in South West England, helping governments, businesses and private clients overcome the complexity of projects and planning applications, whilst providing environmental advice, to search for a Business Leader/MD to assist the CEO/Founder and this successful business in its next phase of growth.Youll be leading an internal team and a number of outside specialist associates.Working alongside the CEO/Founder, you will be an integral member of the Executive team, responsible for the day-to-day running of the business, the development of both sales and operational management strategies, and contribute to the development of the companys strategic goals.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategy and Business Leadership:Developing, formulating and overseeing the implementation of the strategy to reflect the long-term objectives of the business.Planning projects to ensure the execution of strategy.Lead on contracts and business relationships.Provide leadership advice internally on areas of environmental planning, major infrastructure projects, and climate adaption projects.Establish and develop a high performing Team to manage the business on a day-to-day basis, apportioning appropriate responsibility clearly.Define the vision and values to ensure that this is communicated to the business with appropriate buy in to deliver at all levels.A role model, leading by example.Ensure the business is appropriately organized with the right people in the right roles to deliver the strategy.Lead the development and execution of customer communication and brand strategy.Define the customer differentiators.Lead Marketing to develop and execute brand and communications strategies.Develop and maintain a Strategic Marketing Plan.Implement and manage integrated Marketing campaigns and organise corporate events in line with the Strategic Marketing Plan.Responsible for the delivery of financial results against strategic long and short-term plans and budgets, ensuring that appropriate internal controls are in place for expenditure authorisation.Ensure appropriate reward and incentive structures are in place to motivate key employees and associates.Assume role of ambassador and lead internal and external communication through defining ongoing requirements.Business Development:Seek new complementary opportunities in the marketplace through business or client acquisition which contribute to the delivery of the strategy.Develop and maintain relationships with strategic partners, maximizing business opportunities.Develop and manage key external relationships, including customers, associates, introducers, professional connections, shareholders, banks and other providers of finance, suppliers and other service providers.Develop and oversee implementation of appropriate customer propositions to support profitable growth.Approve financial proposals including quotes to clients and fee proposals above agreed thresholds of financial level, complexity, and risk.Business Risk, Compliance and Improving Performance:Responsibility for company performance of its obligations under GDPR and ISO9001, and other accreditations as required.Ensure the company follows the principles of good corporate governance and the maintenance of effective business risk and internal control.Review and approve contracts with clients, suppliers and employees.Review financial performance with the Board and company accountants, and take action on cashflow where necessary.Review and approve professional insurances and relevant certifications to operate.Review and approve new business operating and delivery procedures to improve business efficiencies.Skills and Experience:A demonstrable track record of success in a similar team leadership role and/or position with P&L responsibility.A recognised leader in the field of environmental consulting, with extensive experience of providing environmental, or similar, advice at an executive level.Gravitas and credibility to gain and retain trust and following of Directors, colleagues and stakeholders.An entrepreneurial flair and appetite to explore new commercial opportunities.Strong leadership skills ability to select, lead and develop a high calibre team.Excellent communication / presentation skills, credibility and stature.Probing, challenging and innovative strategic thinker with the ability to determine and drive the strategic vision.Proven ability to identify key risks and
