Gas Strategies is looking for an ambitious and capable person with an advanced quantitative and analytical ability to join the Consulting Team. Accurate and precise, with an advanced level of Excel proficiency, the successful candidate will have some experience within the energy industry and will have developed a good understanding of current market dynamics. The role provides the first step on a career path towards a Consultant role in our well-established and successful global professional services consulting firm.Purpose of RoleResponsible for the delivery of accurate, relevant, and efficient client-focused data analysis, market research, and modelling that exhibits a clarity of understanding of clients concerns and supports clients commercial decision making. This includes the ability to clearly articulate results and findings, in written and oral presentations, to both colleagues and clients.Key Performance Indicators & Role DescriptionData ModellingTo lead on the building and customisation of economic/commercial models for financial simulation and scenario planning as it pertains to key projectsTo support the development and configuration of various in-house tools and models to deliver high value functionality Develop and improve forecasting/modelling approaches and techniques Data ManagementUse a variety of tasks and methods to organise/analyse data from multiple sources with high degrees of rigourUse systems and programming knowledge, personal experience, clients needs and project goals to provide business decision-making supportAssist with the development and utilisation of Gas Strategies Online productsData AnalysisBreak down issues and tasks into manageable parts in a systematic way and identify relationships between partsMake the results of analysis understandable, enabling others to buy-in or accept conclusionsIdentify, explore, and discuss client needs in order to identify all relevant parameters for inclusion in data models Discuss and agree the approach to and allocation of project tasks with peers and project managersIdentify data risk elements and assumptions to determine implications and consequences of analysisProvide technical data modelling assistance to other team members Understand and interpret underlying research requirements and assumptions in order to identify suitable sources of relevant dataAssist with project delivery through the provision of inputs into presentations and projectsCo-ordinate timely execution and delivery of project outputs as agreed by project timelinesConsultingLiaise, communicate and network with clients/project leaders to deliver client assignmentsDevelop good quality project content and reports and oversee quality/evaluation of technical materialPresentation of results and findings to clientsEssential requirements and experience:Excellent numerate ability with high-level Excel and economic modelling abilityHave a significant background in economic forecasting methods and techniquesExperience of analysing complex data and deriving real business decision support (with tangible benefits to the business)Have an interest and affinity for the energy and gas industry that is consistent with Gas Strategies Groups positioning as a key provider of professional services at the heart of the industry A team player who relishes the challenge of new experiences and exhibits a willingness to seek out opportunities within the businessAbility to quickly learn new concepts and apply these to the wider business contextDesirable requirements:Have at least 1-2 years experience of the energy industry, preferably within the global gas sectorSome exposure to consulting and client interaction would be advantageousPersonal Attributes:Demonstrate accuracy and meticulous attention to detailStrong planning, organisational, and time management skills Creative problem-solving ability
