Opportunity Overview Joining the University of Salford Finance department as the Head of Pay & Pensions presents an exciting opportunity to strategically lead and develop the payroll, pensions, and travel teams. You will set the vision, targets, and objectives to drive service excellence, while collaborating with Human Resources and other key stakeholders to enable change and improvement. Key Responsibilities To manage the Pay and Pensions team, and the Travel Manager, ensuring compliance with university and external regulations, whilst providing an excellent service to our customers Use of innovative technologies to drive service quality Influence University decisions through providing expertise in your area Proactively keeping up to date on, and advising on existing and new legislation,interpreting and identifying the implications of change to the environment external to the University and make recommendations proactively for how to react to them Create and drive action to continuously improve the end-to-end customer journey, influencing change across the University Undertake business analysis and utilise management information skillfully to provide cost/benefit analysis, support decision making and make recommendations on key issues Commitment to customer service, training, development, coaching and support, underpinned by high quality performance conversations. About the Department The Finance Department is entrusted with the overall financial management of the institution and its subsidiaries. Comprising a team of over 80 staff members, the department delivers a wide range of financial services to the University, including payroll, financial systems, management and financial accounting, and a travel office. Operating under a devolved system of planning and budgeting, the Finance team collaborates closely with Academic Units and Professional Services to maximise opportunities and ensure financial sustainability.
