Support the Permitting Service and respond to internal and external customer queries. The post holder will provide expertise to one of these defined regime's Environmental Permitting Regulations Installations and Radioactive Substances Regulations The Installations and Radioactive Substances Regulation (RSR) Permitting team sits within the wider Permitting Service, part of the Reguation and Permitting Department. You will be required to work both independently and collaboratively to determine the outcome of complex environmental permit applications for wide range of large industry sectors in Wales. By carrying out appropriate technical assessments in accordance with the relevant legislation, technical guidance, NRW policies and procedures where available, you will fulfil NRWs duties to make sound decisions to issue, refuse or vary environmental permits, to time and budget. You will work in a small team of specialists to share knowledge, experience, and best practice. You will work with your team and the wider industry regulation community, to solve problems, make risk based decisisons and produce robust enforceable permits. You will need to have a strong scientific background in relevant subjects (i.e. chemistry and maths content) and some experience of regulated industry. You do not need to have experience of all industry sectors, but depending on your previous experience and qualifications, you will be appointed subject areas to lead on. The role suits hybrid working. As with many roles, there is great benefit from face to face team meetings and general desk-side training and support, so you will be required to attend the office regularly to participate in certain activities and fulfil specific tasks. As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to the nearest NRW office to your home and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment.
