Now part of one the largest food companies in Europe, our client has a brand-new role and is seeking a Head of Safety, Health & Environment, based in Harlow, Essex.This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic and exciting company. For the past two years, they have been on a journey of positive change: they understand how important their environmental strategy is to their customers and are proud to be on their net zero journey.We are now looking for a Head of SHE (Safety, Health and Environment), to join the team. They are looking for a talented and experienced individual who will develop and lead their safety, health and environment strategy, teams and plans, to ensure best-in-class processes and policies. You will also play a key role in developing a culture of compliance and operational ownership.Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Using established NEBOSH/ IOSH plan-do-check-act principles to drive safety improvements and leadership on siteEnsuring the site Safety Management System is up to date, relevantManaging risk appropriately and in accordance with the Group SHE standardsEnsuring all significant and major SHE risks on site are quantified, managed and validatedMonitoring departmental KPIs and challenging improvement, when required, to ensure targets are achieved and improved uponCompleting regular health, safety and environmental audits of the site, evaluating practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the lawPreparing and scheduling training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety and other relevant topicsEnsuring inspections and servicing of plant, equipment and machinery are completed in compliance with relevant legislation, including PUWER assessmentsMaintaining records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required, and monitoring all other environmental risks to colleagues and the local community.Skills and experience required:NEBOSH diploma or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field is essentialProven experience as a Head of SHE or similar roleComprehensive understanding of health, safety and environmental guidelines and relevant legislationExcellent leadership and management skillsAbility to produce reports and develop relevant policiesGood knowledge of data analysis and risk assessmentStrong communication and interpersonal skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.What we will offer you:Competitive salary33 days holiday, including bank holidays (option to buy up to 5 extra days)Access to GroceryAid, which provides emotional, practical and financial supportBenefits and recognition hub - including amazing colleague discounts.
