Job Title: Practitioner Psychologist HCPC Acute Inpatient Mental Health ServiceSalary: 48,250 per annumHours: 37.5 hours per week (Full-time or 4-day week considered)Location: HertfordshireQualifications: HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical, Forensic, or Counselling) Are you a newly qualified or experienced Practitioner Psychologist looking for a fulfilling role in acute mental health care? Overview: Compass Associates is proud to be partnering with a leading independent healthcare provider to support the recruitment of a Registered Practitioner Psychologist for their acute male inpatient wards. This is a permanent full-time or part-time opportunity, offering a rare chance to join a stable, established team with strong clinical leadership and development pathways. You'll be working across two acute male-only wards, supporting individuals with a range of presentations including psychosis, schizophrenia, and severe depression. The service has a strong therapeutic culture and values psychology at the heart of its care model. This post is open to those newly qualified as well as more experienced psychologists looking to expand their skills in acute mental health. Key Responsibilities:Provide psychological assessments, formulations, and interventions in line with NICE guidance and best practice.Deliver 1:1 and group-based therapeutic work (e.g., DBT skills, coping strategies, psychoeducation).Attend ward rounds, MDT meetings, CPAs, and reflective practice sessions.Offer clinical supervision and mentorship to assistant and trainee psychologists.Support staff with training and reflective practice to embed psychological thinking across the service.Contribute to ongoing service development, audits, and research initiatives.Work within a skilled team that includes psychologists, trainees, assistants, and creative therapists.Essential Requirements:HCPC Registration as a Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical, Forensic, or Counselling).Interest in or experience working with complex mental health presentations (e.g., psychosis, schizophrenia, affective disorders).Confident using evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches.Strong MDT collaboration and communication skills.Desirable Experience:Experience in acute inpatient settings.Skilled in therapeutic models such as CBT, DBT, or ACT.Interest in shaping and leading group therapy programmes. Location: The service is accessible from Cambridge, Bedford, Stevenage, Letchworth, and surrounding areas.
