Accountabilities:Where a hardware failure has been identified to activate a pre-defined workaround or make temporary modifications to PLC code to allow the operation to continue with the minimal possible impact while a repair is carried out. Where a PLC code issues is identified or suspected, diagnose and where appropriate deploy the required code fixesTo provide front line issue investigation of live production PLC systems via on line monitoring of the code to identify and diagnose the cause of faults or failures of the equipment or code.To provide front line investigation of non-code related issues via the use of the relevant diagnostic tools for equipment such as Profibus / Can Bus networks, Bar Code Readers.Where necessary to be able to use the appropriate software to download configurations to non PLC intelligent devices which form part of the control system, such as Bar Code Readers, shuttle cars, local accumulation modules. Roll out and monitor bug fixes, tuning or code upgrades.To support the go live and ramp up of new production PLC systems or Future Projects. Carry out planned maintenance across the site in an accurate and timely and safe manner.Keep records of work activities, tasks carried out, parts used through stores, training etc.Work closely with other departments finding ways to increase machine reliability on existing and new equipmentSkills, Experience and Qualifications:Experience as an Engineer within Automated MHE systemsGood technical & experienced hands-on ability relating to automation hardware and software with Strong Electrical ExperienceA formal qualification in an electrical or mechanical engineering subject ( NVQ Level 3, HNC or equivalent)A good understanding of PLC control system architecture and field control devicesA good understanding of AC/DC motor controlsA good understanding of Industrial Bus Networks e.g Profi bus, ASiOnline code monitoring, modification and development with Siemens S7 300/400 PLCs and TIA.Experience with SCADA and Siemens HMI systemsExperience in a warehouse, distribution, production or FMCG environmentUnderstanding of Control System Communication Protocols such as WCS and WMS systemsFully computer literateGood communication, organisation and planning skillsSound analytical skills, able to look at data and solve problems with full customer focus and determination to deliver results under time critical situationsExperience with the criticality of MHE in an automated environment and prioritising responses appropriatelyWe are proud that we are a disability-confident employer, prioritising inclusivity and equal opportunities for all individuals, ensuring a supportive and accessible workplace for people with disabilities.
