Designed, developed and co-owned by the NHS, our Rota and Rostering application, NHS At Work, plays a critical role in helping trusts efficiently manage complex staff schedules for Doctors in Training, Agenda for Change (AfC) staff and other clinical and non-clinical roles, aiming to reduce administrative burden, enhance staff well-being and ensure safe staffing levels.We are looking for an experienced Rostering Product Manager with a deep understanding of NHS workforce challenges to lead the development of our Rota and Rostering application. This role requires close collaboration with NHS Trusts, clinical teams, and operational leaders to deliver a product that meets the unique demands of the NHS workforce, ensuring compliance with national standards and improving workforce planning and deployment.Leading the Rostering product team, you will work cohesively with our technical, operational and commercial teams, to translate client requirements into a world class Rostering solution, delivering a quality user experience, whilst meeting business objectives. Together with the wider management team, you will help to drive a world class culture, striving for continuous improvement in how products are designed, developed and delivered.PRINCIPAL TASKS & ACTIVITIES Product Strategy & Roadmap: Lead the rostering strategy and roadmap in alignment with business goals and evolving customer needs.Client-Centric Focus: Work closely with clinicians, operators and trust rostering teams to understand pain points, optimise user journeys and ensure the solution delivers tangible valueCollaborative Working: Build strong, cohesive relationships with internal teams commercial, operations, development, testing, QA, UX/UI, and marketing - to translate client requirement into product features that deliver measurable client value.Innovation: For new growth areas, balance client needs, business priorities, and cost to define and deliver a successful Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that maximize value and market impactCompliance & Integration: Ensure the product aligns with NHS e-Rostering standards, Junior Doctor Contract rules, Working Time Regulations (WTR), and integrates with key systems such as Electronic Staff Records (ESR)Agile Product Development: Collaborate with technical teams to deliver high-quality features through agile methodologies, ensuring bug-free, performant and timely releases.Monitor Product Performance: Track product quality, performance, scalability, user journeys and customer feedback, using data to drive continuous improvement.Market & Competitor Analysis: Leverage data and market intelligence to ensure we deliver a competitive product strategy that meets evolving market needs and client expectationsData-driven development: Monitor KPIs such as rota fill rates, compliance with working hours, and reduction in locum spend, using data to drive product improvementsContinuous Improvement: Lead and support cross-functional project teams driving internal process improvements and user journey optimisation as part our world class delivery programme Product Evangelist: Excite internal stakeholders, clients and user groups by evangelising product capabilities and future roadmap developmentsInspiring Leadership: Lead a strong and motivated team, inspired to develop, learn and grow their capabilities as aspiring Product ManagersSubject Matter Expertise: Bring a deep understanding of the healthcare industry, including staffing challenges, regulatory requirements, and clinical workflows to design features that cater to specific healthcare needs. EXPERIENCE & SKILLSEssential:Proven experience in rostering product management within the healthcare sectorStrong understanding of workforce scheduling, rostering systems, and NHS systems e.g. ESRWorking knowledge of Doctors in Training rotations, Agenda for Change terms and conditions, Working Time Regulations, and NHS e-Rostering best practices.Experience of leading SaaS product teams, including design and delivery of successful MVPsExcellent stakeholder management with proven ability to engage clinical and non-clinical teams and translate their needs into technical requirementsExperience with Agile and Scrum development methodologiesExperience in product performance monitoring and improvement, preferably using product analytics platformsKnowledge of GDPR and other data protection requirements in the healthcare contextComfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.Desirable:Understanding of UX/UI principles and their application to healthcare softwareQUALIFICATIONSEssential:Rostering product management experience gained in a healthcare setting is criticalDesirable:Educated to degree levelProduct management certifications (e.g. Certified Scrum Product Owner)ABOUT USWe are a well-established and trusted health economy partner, saving millions for reinvestment in health and social care through our Workforce, Financial and Care businesses.
