This apprenticeship will provide valuable hands-on experience in quality control, inspection processes, and quality management systems (QMS). Under the guidance of our Quality team, you will learn how to perform inspections, measure materials and products, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the company.About Us: Our Rugby facility specialises in the repair, rewind, refurbishment, and retrofitting of rotating electrical machines (AC/DC motors and generators) ranging from 415V to 22kV. As an apprentice Quality Inspector, you’ll have opportunities to progress within the company and take on more challenging roles as your skills develop.Key Responsibilities:Assist in Quality Inspections: Learn and support in inspecting incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards.Conduct Goods Receipt Inspections: Assist in carrying out checks and inspections for received materials and components.Document Inspection Results: Record and maintain accurate inspection records, including measurements, test results, and observations.Identify Quality Issues: Assist in identifying quality issues during production, conduct investigations, and report findings to the team.Support Quality Audits: Help with internal and external quality audits to ensure that processes align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.Work with Suppliers: Participate in monitoring and auditing supplier processes, including machining, fabrication, plating, stamping, and laser cutting.Calibration Assistance: Assist in the calibration of workshop/inspection measuring tools to ensure accurate measurements.Promote Quality Awareness: Learn about quality control techniques and help promote a quality-focused culture across the company.Continuous Improvement: Contribute to identifying areas for improvement in quality processes and help implement solutions to improve standards and reduce defects.Learn Safety and Compliance: Gain an understanding of IECEx/ATEX standards, and assist in ensuring that components meet relevant safety and certification requirements.Support the Final Sign-Off Process: Assist with the final quality assurance checks and support the team in sign-off before project dispatch.Who we want…This is a 4-year apprenticeship that leads to a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering. The apprenticeship offers a comprehensive blend of hands-on learning, academic study, and industry experience, providing the perfect foundation for a successful career in the rotating machines engineering sector.Year 1:Full-Time Training at Midland Group Training Services (MGTS): During the first year, you will attend MGTS in Coventry on a full-time basis. This year will focus on building a strong foundation, learning both practical and theoretical aspects of the role. You will gain core skills essential for your apprenticeship, including engineering principles and hands-on techniques.Years 2–4:Day Release at MGTS: From year 2 onwards, you will attend MGTS on a day-release basis, continuing to develop your knowledge and skills. You’ll complete the educational components required for the program while gaining valuable on-the-job experience with Quartzelec.HNC & HND Opportunity: From year 3, you may have the opportunity to be supported in studying for a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Engineering enhancing your qualifications and furthering your career prospects.Candidate Requirements:We are looking for motivated and ambitious individuals who meet the following criteria:Academic Requirements: 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), with grades A*-C / 9-5 in Maths and A*-C / 9-4 in English, Science, and two other subjects.Passion for Engineering: A genuine interest in the engineering field, particularly in the rotating machinery and manufacturing sector.Willingness to Learn: A strong desire to develop both practical and academic skills and contribute to the success of the team.Qualifications Attained Through This Apprenticeship:Upon completion of this apprenticeship, you will have gained the following qualifications:BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering & Manufacturing Support TechnologiesEAL Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing EngineeringEAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing EngineeringWhat we do for you…Based on 38 hours per week Monday to Friday we offer a very competitive salary plus you will also receive benefits including a competitive pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance of 33 days and a Company contributed gym subsidy payment.
