Position DetailsPosition Type:Student Number of Open Positions:10 Department:Dining Services Campus:Main Campus (Grantham) Work Period:Summer 2025 Hours Per Week:40 Duration of Appointment:Summer Work Schedule:Work hours are scheduled in two shifts, which are typically 6:00AM until 2:30PM, and 11:00AM until 7:30PM. These times are subject to change based on Summer Conferences schedules. Position DescriptionPosition Summary:Students will work at assigned stations to produce and serve menu items and will lead by example as they assist and train other student workers. This position is essential to the success of the Dining Hall’s Summer operations. Experience RequiredExperience:Previous experience in one of our restaurants. Skills and Characteristics Required for PositionPositive attitude, self-motivated, flexible and able to take direction. Able to work well with others, able to work independently of supervision and have excellent customer service and communication skills. Dress Code RequirementsClean and neat appearance at all times.Uniform: jeans, black shirt, closed toe shoes with socks, and hat with nametag on it. If your hair is long enough to touch your shoulders, it must be tied back. If your ears are pierced, you may wear only studs. No sweatpants, shorts, capris, open toe or heeled shoes (e.g. sandals, flip flops, or ballet flats), hoops/dangling earrings, facial piercing, necklaces, bracelets, or other jewelry. Special Working ConditionsMust be able to lift 50 lbs using proper lifting technique. Must be able to work days, evenings, and weekends. Must be able to perform all essential job functions, which require prolonged standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and walking on hard surfaces. Full-time hours: 40 hours per week. Two weeks unpaid vacation between peak conferences. Work dates: May 10 - August 24, 2024. Primary DutiesProvide Dining and Catering services to our guests. Present and serve menu items in a timely and attractive manner. Interact with customers and other team members with a friendly and welcoming attitude. Keep all stations/areas stocked and clean. Aid coworkers at other stations as much as possible if your station/area is slow. Stay occupied by stocking, cleaning, or prepping in the kitchen. Maintain consistent & reliable attendance. Secondary DutiesCleaning equipment and facilities as directed. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory ResponsibilitiesTrain all employees on proper serving techniques, proper production of food including following all recipes and how to keep area of responsibility clean, sanitary, and organized. Lead by example (proper serving techniques, proper food production, keeping areas clean and organized, following safety and sanitation procedures and staying busy). Give excellent customer service to our guests. Assist in completing Student Worker Training Checklists for each student worker. Communicate restaurant or staff needs to supervisors.
