Position:Machine Shop Supervisor Contract:Permanent Location:Worcestershire Salary:Hourly Rate (depending on experience) plus performance bonus (paid twice yearly in June & December payslip), Plus Flexitime (employees can choose their working pattern) Industry:Oil & Gas PRS Engineering has engaged with a key client and a leading Oil & Gas Equipment manufacturer for the Machine Shop Supervisor position on a permanent basis. Very impressive facilities and clean working environment. You will be working with and collaborating with a friendly and welcoming team delivering on high value projects used worldwide. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated individual who would like to join a progressing company. This role is based within an established Production department; therefore, a strong team player attitude is essential. Qualifications, Experience & SkillsMust have experience supervising staff and organising all aspects of a machine shop Must be experienced using machinery such as vertical/horizontal borers, lathes and drilling machines Maths and English GCSE grade 4/5 (equivalent grade C equivalent) is preferable but not essential Key CompetenciesVerbal and written communication skills Professional personal presentation Willingness to be flexible Initiative Reliability Attention to detail Attention to Health and Safety Summary of Job:To lead and be responsible for all aspects of the machine shop To undertake machining duties, as required, in accordance with the company quality standards and best engineering working practices To undertake activities in a timely and efficient manner in order to maintain company contractual delivery requirements To assist, where required, in peripheral activities, e.g., assembly, packing, etc. Staff relationship:Directly responsible to the Works Manager/Production Planning Manager Liaises with all internal departments, as appropriate Has proactive involvement with internal and external quality audits Duties and responsibilities:Shall be fully committed to the achievement of the company policies and objectives with attention to quality and safety Responsible for carrying out duties in a safe, timely, economic, and effective manner To ensure that the workshop is adequately equipped, and machinery and tools are well maintained through a planned maintenance schedule/safe to use To ensure, where appropriate, that personnel are adequately trained and fully competent to be able to carry out work delegated to them, in line with required quality and safety standards Responsible for the maintenance and good housekeeping of the working area To make recommendations, where appropriate, for improvements to existing working practices To make recommendations for renewal/replacement of plant and equipment Ensure production consumables are maintained at an adequate level Authority to commit expenditure must be obtained from senior management Ensure safe working practices are adhered to at all times; this applies to internal and visiting personnel Demonstrate a flexible and positive approach to duties, which may be required from time to time Undertake reasonable instructions and tasks from senior personnel, commensurate with the nature of the job and in the best interests of the company BenefitsCompany bonus Company pension scheme Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) Life insurance (death in service) 23 days holiday (19 floating days, 4 fixed towards Christmas shutdown) +extra service days +Bank Holidays +Birthday Leave (after 2 full calendar years' service) Training opportunities Free eye tests and contribution towards lenses/spectacles for VDU users, if appropriate Social events organised and funded by the company Corporate gym discount Hours of workWorks hours enable flexitime working, covering a 40 hour week. Monday to Thursday covers an 8.5 hour shift with half an hour unpaid lunch break and a ten minute paid break in the morning and afternoon, Friday covers a 6 hour shift with no lunch break but does include a twenty minute paid break.
