What You'll Do at Work We are looking for an Apprentice Finance Assistant to join our Finance team. The team is vital to the Foundation's ability to make an impact and improve health in Lambeth and Southwark. This role will be primarily responsible for processing, filing, and other administration. It will provide support to the Finance team in its mission to process and report financial information of the highest quality. The team is engaging, collaborative, and supportive, as well as highly motivated and passionate about their work. This Apprentice role offers an opportunity to gain experience across a range of financial operations and tasks and is a first step towards a career in finance and accountancy. Specific responsibilities (Ranked most to least frequent): Monitor the Finance Department mailbox and in-tray, allocate to team members and take responsibility for agreed own tasks. Assist the team to check and process a range of financial documentation, ensuring budget codes, VAT codes, etc., are correct. Respond to incoming queries appropriate to Apprentice capabilities and role in a timely and professional manner. Maintain and input data in the finance systems ensuring that details and contacts are current and accurate. Assist the team with processing payment runs, ensuring all payments are handled efficiently. File all completed work in the appropriate files promptly. Archive all work in accordance with the department's guidelines, maintaining files and archives in an organised and logical order. Perform other ad-hoc tasks as required, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the finance team. College or Training Organisation KAPLAN FINANCIAL LIMITED Your Training Course Assistant Accountant (Level 3) - Equal to A Level Course Contents Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries. Record and analyse financial data using the organisation's standard tools and processes. Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts. Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts. Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations. Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders. Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand. Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications. Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data. Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications. Your Training Plan Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Level 3 - AAT. This Level 3 programme builds on the foundations for entry-level talent to support growth within an Accountancy and Finance function. Employees on this apprenticeship will ensure an Accountancy and Finance practice performs in the most effective way. It includes the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting and provides the opportunity for them to support the business with essential skills and behaviours to drive results. You will learn how to prepare financial statements for Sole Traders and Partnerships, the importance of management accounting information, and how to prepare VAT returns. You'll develop the technical skills to start, or progress, your career in accountancy and this will allow you to continue with your studies onto Level 4. To Pass This Level You Will Need to Study the Following Four Units: Financial Accounting; Preparing Financial Statements (FAPS). Management Accounting Techniques (MATS). Tax Processes for Business (TPFB). Business Awareness (BUAW). You will also be required to complete an End Point Assessment (EPA), which will include a synoptic assessment and discussion with a supporting portfolio. Training will be provided by attending either face-to-face classroom-based lessons or Live Online. An apprenticeship has to be relevant to the job you are undertaking and you must dedicate time to off-the-job training, as well as completing knowledge, skills, and behaviours associated with your apprenticeship. Requirements Essential Qualifications GCSE or equivalent in: Maths (grade 9/A* - 4/C) English (grade 9/A* - 4/C) Desirable Qualifications Other in: AAT (grade 2) A Level or equivalent in:Relevant (grade A-C) Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have.
