Depot & Transport ManagerLocation: East London E3 (Fully Onsite)Hours: 40hrs p/weekSchedule: SundayFriday (day/evening/lates flexible approach to support all operational teams)Salary: 35,00045,000 per annum (includes 10% OTE performance bonus)Reports to: Operations ManagerDirect Reports: Currently 2 Supervisors, plus Picking & Delivery TeamsAbout UsAt Jones Bros, were a proud family-run business thats been delivering the freshest milk and produce to London and the surrounding areas since 1877.Were built on strong values community, quality, and service. With our recent move into new premises, were growing fast and looking for a hands-on Depot & Transport Manager to lead from the front and take our East London depot to the next level.Is This You?A proactive leader who thrives on ownership and making a real impactExperienced in leading small teams or a seasoned supervisor ready for the next stepFocused on performance, efficiency, and developing peopleConfident managing B2B deliveries, fleet compliance, and daily logisticsHolds a valid UK manual driving licence and is comfortable with Excel, Outlook, and WordLeads by example, gets stuck in when needed, and creates a positive, productive environmentWhat Youll Be DoingOperations ManagementOversee and be accountable for the end-to-end evening picking operationWork closely with supervisors to plan shifts, manage resources, and meet daily targetsEnsure all stock is received, stored, and discrepancies reported within agreed SLAsMonitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement across the depotMaintain accurate and compliant operational documentationManage the night-to-day handover process, escalating any issues to customer careTransport & Fleet ManagementEnsure all vehicles are roadworthy, compliant, and regularly maintainedPlan delivery waves in line with picking and customer needs, ensuring safe yard practicesMaintain detailed, accurate transport recordsUnderstand customer routes and expectations thoroughlyTeam LeadershipLead, motivate, and support supervisors, pickers, and delivery driversConduct team reviews, regular 1-to-1s, and training to uphold high standardsEnsure depot is always audit-ready (health 'safety, transport compliance, etc.).Ensure depot health 'safety policies and SSOWs are followed by staffSupport recruitment for drivers, pickers, and depot staff as needed.Oversee onboarding, induction, and training of new team members.Report depot KPIs directly to the Operations ManagerWhat Youll BringStrong team management and leadership skillsExperience with performance management (PDPs, 1-to-1s, basic HR practices)A hands-on, solution-focused mindsetExcellent time management and organisationKnowledge of logistics, B2B delivery, and fleet complianceWhy Join Us?Join a close-knit, growing team where your input truly mattersTake ownership of a key site and play a leading role in its successBe part of a stable, fast-growing company with nearly 150 years of historyWork from a brand-new facility designed with growth in mindSound like a good fit? Budget & Cost ManagementMonitor depot-related expenses (e.g. fuel, maintenance, labour hours).Work with finance to manage depot budgets and track cost efficiencies.Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.3. Systems & TechnologyUse and improve warehouse management or route optimisation software.Contribute to any tech implementation or upgrades related to transport/logistics.Ensure staff are trained and compliant with systems and processes.4. Cross-Team CollaborationAct as the key liaison between operations, customer care, sales, and warehouse.Communicate proactively with other depots or business units if applicable.5. Risk Management & ComplianceConduct regular risk assessments.Ensure depot is audit-ready at all times (health 'safety, transport compliance, etc.).Stay up to date with industry regulations (e.g., driver hours, vehicle maintenance logs, food safety if relevant).6. Customer-Facing EscalationsBe the point of contact for any high-level delivery or service issues.Work closely with the customer care team to resolve problems quickly.
