If you're confident with CAD, understand how products move through assembly, and have an eye for continuous improvement, this could be a brilliant opportunity.ISQ Recruitment is supporting a growing engineering business in Cambridgeshire to recruit a Design & Process Engineer. This newly created position offers variety, autonomy, and the chance to make a real impact across both design and production functions. About the Role: You’ll be responsible for designing and developing product-specific components that support safe storage, movement, and assembly. Using tools like SolidWorks and Kasemake, you’ll create practical, CAD-based designs while working to improve associated processes. Alongside the design work, you’ll collaborate with teams across production, assembly, and supply chain to identify improvement opportunities and reduce waste using Lean principles. What You’ll Be Doing:Create CAD designs for custom components that support the safe handling and assembly of productsWork with production and assembly teams to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and easy to implementReview and refine existing product handling and assembly processesSelect appropriate materials and recommend improvements to reduce cost or improve safety and sustainabilityMaintain BOMs and manage design data within the MRP systemInvestigate and resolve issues related to design, handling, or assemblyContribute to Lean improvement activities, including A3 problem solvingDocument and help standardise new processesLiaise with suppliers to ensure design solutions are delivered effectivelyWhat We’re Looking For Essential:Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience2+ years in a design or process engineering roleProficient in 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks)Experience in a manufacturing, assembly or low-volume production environmentUnderstanding of Lean principles and process improvement techniquesAbility to produce and interpret technical drawingsDesirable:Experience designing components to assist with product assembly or handlingFamiliarity with CAD tools beyond SolidWorks (e.g. Kasemake or similar)Involvement in continuous improvement projects or use of A3 methodologyUnderstanding of BOM structures and MRP systemsWhy Apply?Hybrid working available after onboardingPurpose-built facilities with on-site parkingExcellent benefits packageFriendly, supportive team environmentOngoing training and long-term progression opportunitiesHow to Apply Click Apply Now, or get in touch directly; ,or call 01603 369 500
