Job Title: Development & Research Engine Test Technician Location: Peterborough 12 Months12 hour shifts 6 to 6. On rotationalAdditional Info: 85% test bed operations, 15% training/development and improvement activities.Applicants must be self-motivated, with good teamworking skills and be willing to work shifts.What You Will Do:Adhere to the Organisation's health and safety policy and safe working practices in accordance with the Safety Management System.Follow documented standard work procedures/instructions to perform safe and defect free installations of engines into test cells along with the connection of test measurement and associated equipment and services that allow for high quality data collection.Liaise and communicate with engineers responsible for engine test programs.Diagnose and fix a range of faults on both engines and test cell equipment.Keep the work area clean, tidy, and safe in line with 5S and total preventative maintenance (TPM).Support value stream improvements projects.Undertake training and further learning as required.What You Have:Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Level Basic Understanding: Identifies the procedures for making sure that results are mistake-free.Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Level Basic Understanding: Identifies issues and communicates with others when a decision needs to be made.Have a fully flexible approach to the job role & responsibilities.Effective Communications: Level Basic Understanding: Explains the importance of effective business communication.Speaks/writes using correct language, mechanics, and gestures.The ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions/procedures.You will possess effective communication skills to liaise with various levels of the organization.Applicants must be able to demonstrate initiative along with a positive attitude towards change.Technical Excellence: Level Basic Understanding: Seeks opportunities for continual learning to maintain technical competence in pursuit of technical excellence.A good working knowledge of instrumentation and its application.The ability to use hand/power tools and lifting equipment.Prepared to undertake required training/learning.Good PC skills and ability to use Microsoft Office applications.Desirable experience/skills: Good engine and mechanical diagnostic/problem solving skills.Previous experience in motor vehicle maintenance or engine testing.Applicants will ideally have an engineering or motor mechanics apprenticeship and some relevant work experience and have completed some form of relevant higher education.
