About us Within advisory, the Major Projects Advisory (MPA) team is helping to solve some of the biggest challenges in infrastructure and public services, making an impact on things that affect the wellbeing and prosperity of everyone in the UK. The work is varied and complex, and no one else does it quite like we do. In TSI, we help our clients to deliver and operate their assets more efficiently and effectively. The team is at the forefront of shaping some of the UK's largest and most complex construction & infrastructure programmes. Applicants should have a particular interest in transformation and developing highly innovative strategies that enable our clients to achieve their objectives. About the role The things we do are wide-ranging and require plenty of entrepreneurial ability and intellectual curiosity; a desire to truly understand what makes a client's organisation tick! The role will require a skilled individual that is adaptable and has experience in collaborating with a multi-disciplinary technical team. An understanding or willingness to learn about project management, construction, and organisational transformation will be required. Experience in translating highly technical information to a broad audience in non-technical terms. Managers in our team are right at the forefront of delivery, and this role requires a breadth of management consulting experience - ideally gained from Infrastructure-related Projects and Programmes, but we'll happily consider candidates with experience in other relevant fields. A preference will be given to candidates with a strong aptitude for planning, technical background and/or previous industry experience in infrastructure projects and Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). As one of the senior consultants on the ground, you'll be applying your experience every day, bringing to life tailored solutions for our clients whilst managing important relationships. Helping to solve some of the most complex challenges in infrastructure can be a tall order. You will therefore possess the agility and determination to reset and try different approaches. You will work within a highly collaborative, high performing team where failure is celebrated. The team is well blended containing a vast range of skillsets and personalities - introverts as well as extraverts are equally welcome. Specifically, your day-to-day involves: Being part of a high-performing, multi-disciplinary consulting teams. This role requires a significant amount of interaction with highly technical teams. A post-graduate education in Engineering or equivalent technical field would be highly beneficial. However we welcome applicants with relevant experience in place of tertiary education. Supporting in the delivery of client-facing work within specialist areas, ensuring new processes and tools are designed with a strong human /end user focus - this includes producing high-quality outputs with serious attention to detail. A strong proficiency of Microsoft Excel (specifically in the areas of pivot tables, macros, and a beginner to intermediate understanding of Power BI). A skillset or experience in facilitation of workshops will be given preference. Working closely with our clients to truly understand their world and problems to ensure that the service we provide continually adds value. Looking after financial aspects of an engagement - ensuring we keep clients informed of costs and time incurred, in addition to raising invoices and recovering fees. Creating high and low level integrated plans across multi-discipline workstreams. Creating high impact presentational material that help to describe complex problems to non-technical audiences. Business development - identifying potential opportunities for new assignments and assisting with bids. Keeping up to date with specific (technical) developments affecting your work, identifying opportunities for thought leadership and assisting with the development of a KPMG opinion in your specific technical area. This role requires knowledge, understanding or willingness to learn about infrastructure construction and/or design. Previous experience or skills in change management, technical assurance, understanding of AGILE project management (or similar) techniques, as well as knowledge of stage/gated processes are beneficial. Understanding the broader suite of services offered by KPMG and identifying opportunities to collaborate and design unique solutions for our clients. Your track record should evidence: Experience working within a consulting or corporate environment - infrastructure, design or technical consultancy. Ability to deliver impactful presentations; translating complex themes into easy to digest formats. In-depth experience of applying Project, Programme and/or Portfolio management - and a passion for improving the outcomes of critical infrastructure programmes. A foundation of excellent academics and good career progression to date. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. An ability to build and maintain great relationships and a desire to network across our firm. A good spread of experience using different software/applications (e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Oracle P6, Slack, Power BI). Experience in one of the following areas would also help you stand out - but it's not essential: Delivery of targeted business process improvement(s) in relation to capital investment Portfolios and major Projects/Programmes. Delivery of development and execution of major projects/programmes. Delivery of advisory services such as organisational design and governance optimisation. Working in partnership with clients to shape strategic direction and helping them to go out and implement. Performance and efficiency improvement. Enhancing Project and Programme governance and decision-making processes. Experience in facilitation of technical workshops. and/or capturing and communication of lessons learned reviews.
