Our unique departments and processes are unified under a series of propositions to add value, and bring unparalleled benefits to airlines, catering teams, crews, and the passengers that enjoy them.Working closely and collaboratively with teams across the business, the Packaging Technologist is responsible for the implementation and management of live packaging concepts into the operations through their life cycle.Key Responsibilities:Liaising with suppliers to ensure they hold relevant specifications and certificationsDeveloping and maintaining an up-to-date record of specifications, certifications and supplier capabilitiesSelecting suitable packaging materials for projects with guidance from the Packaging Development Manager and Procurement teamSupport with reviewing artwork from a printability and production feasibility perspective based on supplier capabilitiesCoordinating packing and transit trials to test packaging performance and efficiencyAttending or advising on checks for factory and 1st production trials to validate the packing and packaging of newly developed solutionsBuilding an optimized case and pallet configuration which considers several factors including height limitations on storage at co-packers, intended delivery method (e.g. containers) and safety regulationsOngoing management of launched packagingLeading on packaging investigations by implementing corrective and preventative actions with suppliersThe Packaging Technologist also plays a key role in the delivery of tasks which form part of the Marketing & Creative team and overall business objectives.This job description is not intended to be either prescriptive or exhaustive, but it is issued as a general framework at the time of writing.Person Specification (Knowledge and Skills): Excellent knowledge of and experience in food safe packaging and relevant legislationExperienced understanding of multiple packaging and printing production methodsPrevious experience in using Cape Pack or any other palletization software would be an asset, as well as the project management tool TrelloStrong organisational skills with ability to prioritise workload, multitask and meet deadlinesAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and on own initiativeExcellent verbal / written communication and problem-solving skillsStrong interpersonal skills and an effective team player
