Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term for 6 MonthsAn exciting opportunity has arisen for Assistant Neighbourhood Housing Officers to join our Neighbourhood Housing Team in undertaking property, communal and estate inspections including fire safety work. This role is key in identifying corrective actions necessary to be compliant with fire safety regulations informing management, tenants, and leaseholders as necessary.You'll be working in line with government legislation, completing our statutory duty in carrying out fire inspections. It is an active role so if you are looking for something that involves being on your feet, then this is for you.What you'll be doingYou'll maintain the council's housing stock by ensuring fire safety compliance and follow a strict regime of routinely inspecting, accurately recording, and reporting on fire safety matters and assisting the Building Responsible Officer. This means carrying out tests on equipment such as emergency lighting, fire alarms, hose reels, dry and wet risers etc. You'll undertake Fire Risk Assessments and fire safety audits carried out by Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, whilst effectively working with repairs, property, and technical services to ensure effective provision of service. You'll visit people in their homes and carry out inspections on estates and in communal areas of flats. You'll respond to tenancy management service requests from tenants, leaseholders, and residents and you'll update databases and maintain records, whilst assisting in enquiries.What you'll needYou'll be required to demonstrate previous experience of writing reports, making accurate written notes and accurate observations. You'll have good customer care skills, be able to interview customers and have experience of working in customer facing service. Using excellent communication skills, you'll have the ability to resolve difficult situations with tact and diplomacy. You'll be able to demonstrate literacy and numeracy enough to perform job tasks.
