This is a full-time, permanent post. Working week will be - Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm with no expectation of providing on call for this post. The successful applicant will join a team of consultants and would be required to provide a comprehensive histopathology service but will not be required to report neuropathology cases. You will be required to develop specialist interests to complement the existing specialist Cancer services. Main duties of the jobYou will be expected to co-operate with other members of the Pathology Directorate to ensure effective administrative arrangements are made in the laboratory, which will include: Recruitment and appointment of junior medical staff, BMSs and secretarial staff having dealings with the histopathology department. The arrangement of rosters of staff, the allocation of duties to them and their instruction in necessary organisational matters. Co-ordination with staff in other professional disciplines and health care workers outside the hospital. Attendance at Board meetings and other committees when pathology issues are being discussed and to participate in resource management. Continuing management responsibility by agreement with other consultants in the Cellular Pathology Department, specifically for the service in his/her charge and for administrative duties associated with these services and the proper functioning of the department, though he/she may delegate certain responsibilities to the senior staff within the department.
