Location: Covering all of North Yorkshire but predominantly working in York Salary: Scale PO6-9 SCP 39 42, 29,284- 31,715 per annum, (Full time equivalent 45,147 - 48,894) Contract: North Yorkshire Police, permanent Hours: Part time 24 hours per week,working Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. We are looking to appoint a Health and Wellbeing Counsellor, to join our Health and Wellbeing Department, where you will provide confidential psychological support and counselling to all individuals within North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service. As Health and Wellbeing Counsellor you will be part of the Occupational Health and Wellbeing team and will deliver an effective wellbeing psychological support service. A large part of this involves contributing to the development and the delivery of education and prevention strategies through running workshops and events across all locations, throughout North Yorkshire. The role is varied but exceptionally demanding and you will be expected to manage a high case load as well as delivering prevention strategies. Being highly motivated with good resilience and excellent organisational skills as well as having substantial experience of navigating dual relationships are essential to be successful in this role. Key responsibilities: Provide a professional and confidential wellbeing psychological support and counselling service to individuals within the organisation. Engage in the delivery of proactive programmes, working collaboratively with colleagues and managers to explore options and develop proactive solutions to enhance the wellbeing of employees. Provide a support service for staff and their managers in identified roles where routine screening is required. Write management reports and gather medical information to advise managers of adjusted duties, reasonable adjustments and recuperative duties. Develop and maintain internal and external relationships and partnerships to support the achievement of objectives. Participate in service groups to actively contribute to seek to continuously improve wellbeing services including implementation of relevant processes, procedures, and guidance in line with codes of practice and legislation. Liaise with the wider People Services teams regarding general staff care issues, training needs, policy, and practice. Complete statistical information to identify any organisational issues or wellbeing trends within the workforce, ensuring these are communicated and assist in the development of initiatives to combat these. Actively pursue research or project work on specific initiatives. Deliver education and prevention initiatives. Requirements: To be successful you will: Hold a qualification in either counselling or psychotherapy to at least Diploma level or equivalent. Be accredited to and hold a registration to UKCP or BACP. Significant and varied post qualifying experience, including but not limited to trauma work. Be able to communicate and deliver relevant wellbeing interventions at all levels. Have excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a demanding caseload. Be able to effectively cope with the pressures of providing psychological counselling support across all organisations. Experience of providing psychological support in an organisational setting and managing dual relationships would be an advantage. As would a qualification in trauma therapy, such as EMDR or trauma-focussed CBT and being competent in the delivery of workshops.
