Well provide the transport or cost of transport to get you there and back each week and a nice place to stay when youre there so you can focus on your studies. Here youll start your Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering. Youll then spend the next 3 years working at Glenlee Power Station learning from experienced Technicians, Shift Operators, and Engineers. By the end of the 4 years, youll come out with an SVQ level 3 in Engineering Maintenance and a NC in Engineering.About the RoleTheres no such thing as a typical day as an Apprentice as itll vary depending on what year youre in and what team youre working with. But, to give you a bit of an idea, you can expect to provide maintenance on Drax mechanical, electrical, or control and instrumentation bits of our plant. You might also be learning to read and interpret technical drawings to ensure youre fixing the right bit of kit.Ultimately, youll be learning to be responsible and accountable for the plant and its equipment and systems. Youll also be learning to solve problems safely, logically, quickly, and confidently. Further training and development is a key part of your career journey at Drax, which comes in many forms such as on-the-job training, working at different sites, or further qualifications.Youll be joining a large team of experienced production, operational, and engineering colleagues. So, youll get all the knowledge of our highly skilled long-serving colleagues, alongside the advice, friendship, and support of your Apprentice peers. There will also be opportunities for short secondments to other power stations within the Drax group.What were looking for Youll need (or be predicted to achieve) a minimum of National 5 grades C and above in English, Maths, a Technical subject, and a Science subject. (Youll need to prove these before you start, so make sure you keep your certificates handy).As well as getting the right grades, well also be looking for candidates with good communication skills who can work as part of a team.About DraxWe are one of the largest energy generators in the UK, with our Hydro sites in Scotland and main site in North Yorkshire covering 13 square miles.
