Unity 3D Environmental Set Dresser - short term contractGlitch Studios are looking for an 3D environmental set dresser who works in UNITY to join their remote team working on an unannounced VR experience. The position will be a freelancer contract lasting an expected 2-3 months.The successful candidate will have at a minimum:- Strong verbal and written communication in English. We are an international team with bases in Norway, Turkey and the United Kingdom.- An online portfolio with numerous high quality examples of 3D environment art and level design- An artist's eye, clearly showing an intuitive, cohesive and organic approach to level design.- Effective environmental storytelling communicated through asset placement, vistas and set pieces. Examples could be, for example, a forest scene, with a felled dead tree trunk with mushrooms growing on it amidst a glade of healthy trees, indicating time has passed and new life is growing from the dead trunk, or a beach scene with scattered palm trees dappling sunlight with their leaves above rockpools, whilst sheltered coves hide skeletons and treasure chests from the player until they turn the corner.- Experience using realtime games engines such as Unity and Unreal for level design and environmental set dressing.Intuition and resourceful thinking when assembling cohesive environments from pre-made 3D assets from a variety of diverse sources, such as off-the-shelf asset packs and custom assets made in house.- Collaborative and optimistic attitude as well as ability to work proactively and autonomously in order to implement environmental art tasks set by our art director. We believe that video game & realtime experience development is a team effort in which everyone has a part to play and contribute.Advantages that would be taken into account for the successful candidate include:- Significant experience using Unity, specifically placing of assets, setting up LOD groups.- Basic understanding of Unity's terrain system.- Understanding of the technical limitations faced by VR development.- This is primarily a set dressing role. 3D modelling experience is always helpful however, and gives a more fundamental understanding of the underlying geometry.
